		<description>There are many explanations for why you cannot read a burned cd. My $1000 Sony ES DVD player can't read burned cds. It is because the laser is unable to focus on the smaller bumps created by a burned cd rather than a pressed one.

However, there are also many other factors if it's not your CD player. You could be using the wrong type of disc, whether it is the chemical recording surface, or the wrong length type. You could also be burning too fast, or there might be some form of copy protection.
