Why is my record player scratching my records?
I bought a "Retro Record and CD Player". It's new, you can buy them at Toys R Us and online. Well, it's playing all of the Disney read-along stories just fine... but a few records that are in PERFECT condition will not play without the needle digging into the record and creating a horrible scratching noise and creating this dusty particle stuff from the scratching. Why is it that it plays some fine and not others that are in great condition and the right speed and all? What can I do?
Any help?
Wipe down your record with a very soft cloth, they have some just for records, the needle may have picked up some fuzz off the other records. I some times use a bit of alcohol on a cloth and wipe in the direction the record spins. let dry well before you use them again,
Also try to pick off any fuzz you may see on the tip of the needle.
Your record player probably isn’t a “real” record player! if the disney recods are new, it may be playing those fine because it was MADE to play them fine. i would just suggest buying a “real”-real record player, (a.k.a. those “garage sale” record players you probably see and pass off as crap.
). Then again, it may just be your needle! if your needle is bent or flawed, it will create scratches. (trust me, i know.)
