Why does my DVD player insist on pausing briefly at the start of each 'chapter'?
This applies to pre-recorded, genuine, shop-bought DVDs as well as home-recorded DVDs. At the start of each chapter, there is a brief pause in the action. It is especially noticeable when there's a gap in the otherwise continuous soundtrack. I used to think it was just the odd disc, but no, it really is every one. I've looked through all the settings on the DVD player, but can't see anything obvious to change. Any ideas very welcome. Many thanks, Mick
This is part of the specification of the player or recording process. There isn’t any physical gap in the digital data present on a CD or DVD and it’s put in by logic. There’s a digital command that says something like "here’s the end of the song" and the pause is inserted. Otherwise everything would just all run together. Inserting a chapter mark must do the same thing. I did find one reference to this problem that may help you. It’s at the link below.
