Which player do you believe honestly deserves the home run records?
I mean in terms of Season and all time. Do you think it should be Bonds or do you think it should be a different player. I do not mean who physicaly hit more but which player do you think played fair and had the record at a point.
Season, Roger Maris, 61 in ‘61. Career, Hank Aaron, 755. Until somebody can top those without cheating, as McGwire, Sosa and Bonds did, those are the records.
Well this is a tought one, but if I had to choose I would go with Hank over Barry because of the possibility of his drug use!

Sure lets take the records away from the present day players. Let MLB look the other way when they knew what was going on and then make a stand against it when the media and society finds out. I think MLB should step down and let another organization take over baseball. \
Second of all who is to say that the earlier players didn’t cheat in some way. We all know that cocaine was a big problem throughout the years in MLB and last time I checked cocaine speeds you up and gives energy. What about Ephedra for all those years. He!!, I can run 10 miles when I took Ephedra bit can’t run one without it but those players aren’t deemed "cheaters". Who is to say that being drunk and hungover all the time wasn’t The Babes way to performance enhancement.
To Jackass Chris W below, Both coke and Ephedra speed you system up hence your adrenaline. Last time I checked it is a proven fact that when your adrenaline is raised or going full blast you have unearthly amounts of strength. Sound like that can make one stronger and faster now doesn’t it. YOU JERK !!!!
Well I think it should be Maris for the season and Aaron for the all time record…I just don’t believe that Bonds, Sosa, and McGwire didn’t take sterroids or that they took them without their knowledge…I know innocent until proven guilty but their unnatural growth is proof enough for me.
I think it should be Hank because he came by the record honestly and didn’t cheat his way to the top. Bonds should be stripped of all records and be banned from baseball.

As a Cubs fan I am willing to admit that it is most likely that Sosa took steroids. Though I have no proof other than circumstance.
That being said, I still consider Hank Aaron the HR kind because Bonds size increase was off the charts. And it has been proven that he did take some forms of steroids. (The Cream and The Clear)
Because there hasn’t been actual physical evidence for Sosa and McGwire I am unsure and for safety sake, I go with Maris.

As for the wahoo above that said that cocaine and ephedra are performance enhancing drugs. Cocaine does not make you hit the ball further. Nor does ephedra. Ephedra was not illegal when they played (and I am not even sure if it was around yet) so it isn’t cheating. Stimulants got banned, not because they were helping players but because of the recent heart related deaths players have had.
