Where Can I Find This?
While cleaning out the basement, I found my mom's old (45+ years) of records, including her beloved Patsy Cline records. She was heartbroken when she couldn't find them (they've been lost for years) and thought that they had been lost in the move (they moved into this house, which we still own today back in 1982), and was upset that they were gone.
She gave up looking for the records years ago, thinking that they were lost. We have an old record player (one of the really old ones with the horn thing at the top) down here, and I wanted to test them to see if they played before I told her (I didn't want to get her hopes up if they didn't work and have her be disappointed). Unfortunately the turntable no longer works. Where can I find one for a decent price? Do any stores sell new ones? If not, where would I be able to find an older one that still works, and how much should I expect to pay for it? I'm planning for this to be her birthday present--when she gets home from work I'm going to have the turntable out on the dining room table that she sees when she walks in, and have one of the records playing when she walks in the door. Then I'll give her the rest of them, wrapped. Where can I find a turntable? NOT online!
Try your local antique shops and pawn shops….it may be one of the ones that were like the "luxury" types, more then the horn type. And depending on the shop and style….if its the horn type it will be more expensive then the other, because the horn style is made to look more, and the ones that were made to be luxury back in the 70s- early 80s, would be cheaper, because now-a-days we have cd players, ipods, and mp3 player systems to replace them.
go to one of them second hand stores or the sallyann and you can get one real cheap.too bad you don’t live here in Edmonton because we have a few old turn tables kicking around and i would give you one for your mother.
You can try fry’s, bestbuy, or guitar center as pretty mainstream places that sell them. New ones run from 80 bucks to 500ish. This is the cheapest one I found on the Frys website http://shop2.frys.com/product/2638282?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
They might have to order the one you want so it could take a week or two.
Otherwise I would try any small music shop in the neighborhood.
Here’s a link to one on amazon.com that you can hook up to a computer.

That’s a really nice thing to do! Check local second hand stores & classified ads in the local papers.
