A cheap record player means it has a cheap needle and will scratch your vinyls.  You can't even buy a decent needle for $20.  You might as well use a nail!!  

People buy record players to enjoy the music at its fullest and by plugging a record player to a cheap 5W speaker you basically destroy the whole experience.  You need a decent AV receiver/amp to fully enjoy vinyl.  If you can't afford it, stick to CDs or MP3.</description>
