whats the best portable media player that's available online? i'm looking for battery life, memory, and price.
anything, really, as long as it's in reasonable price range (around 0 or less). the best of the best, and it's a huge add-on if it can record things, through an a/v. defenatly needs to play MUSIC and have a good catigorization system, a decent OS, and nice video playblack.

I would NOT go with an ipod product at all. Some of my friends have ipods and they think its stupid that you have to use itunes first if you want to transfer things out of an ipod. I bought an iriver 2 years ago and i like it. Iriver was the first to be able to play video on them and also the first with color screens available. They are also not too pricey but very high quality products. Your best bet is to go with an iriver if you would like to be able to transfer things without the hassle of downloading itunes for everything you put on.
I own a Creative Zen MicroPhoto, I bought a different Creative Zen for my father (he wanted something with bigger buttons), and another friend bought a Creative Zen Micro.
It won’t record things directly. However, you can use Windows Media Player, Yahoo Music Engine, Rhapsody, or the software that comes with the Zen to rip music, organize it into playlists, and transfer it to the player.
With Yahoo Music Engine, Rhapsody, and Napster, you can "rent" music and take it with you for as little as $12 a month. I loaded up my player with over 1000 songs NOW.
Some of the Zen’s have built in microphones and FM receivers too.
Almost every Zen is under $400, depending on size and storage.
