what do i need to hook up my record player turn table to make sound?
i have a 70's-80-'s turntable and i wnat to hook it up to make sound come out of it. ive seen others hooked up but i dont know what they use. from what ive seen the turntable sits on a larger box, im assuming this is a reciever. if it isnt some correct me. then from the reciever the speakers are plugged into that. right?
you need a stereo amp with a PHONO INPUT.
From the turntable, the red to the left input, the white to the right input and be sure to connect the ground wire to the grounding post on the amp.
If your amp or receiver doesn’t have a phono input, you will need to buy a phono pre-amp. You connect the turntable’s outputs to the pre-amp’s input, and then connect the pre-amp’s output up to any line level input on your receiver. Below is a link to several pre-amps in Google shopping.
