What are the RPM on record players?
I'm looking into buying a record player. The one I'm looking at has 33 1/3 and 45 RPM.
It doesn't have 78 RPM, would this be needed?
I have looked at my vinyl and most say 33 1/3 or 45, however some don't mention their RPM.
Thanks.
The rpms are the revolutions per minute…Unless you have an extensive record collection , youm won’t have any ’78’s, which were dicontinued many years ago. the regular lp albums are still on 331/3. single 7" w/ large center hole are usuall y 45’s unless they are an extended play, which may be 33/13 or 45. If you have some which the speed is not noted, (unusual) try it on either speed … you’ll know instantly whether or not it’s the right speed. Unless you are planning to start collecting recors from the ’20’s - ’50’s don’t concern yourself with not having the 78 speed.
