Watching TV in the garage…without a TV: portable digital player, computer…what should I use?
I'm converting our garate into a work-out room. I like to watch TV while I'm on the machines, and I'd like to be able to watch DVDs as well. I want to watch TV shows, but I don't want to run another cable box and tivo back there. I do have tivo in the house. So, I was thinking of a) putting a computer in the garage and transfering shows from tivo to the computer and mounting a monitor to the wall, or b) finding a portable digital video player that I could transfer tivo files to, but it needs a big enough screen (haven't found one yet), or c) getting a TV/VCR and just putting the tivo records on vhs tapes (we have a portable dvd player I could hook up to the TV if need be). I'm leaning towards the computer, then I could also put all my music on the computer and listen while working out. I culd download other workout videos, etc. So, which would you recomend, and do you have any other ideas? Thanks!
Toshiba makes a DVR/ DVD recorder that has an internal hard drive. I’m not sure about the model number though. Check their website.

You are going through a lot of trouble and expense in order to avoid running a cable wire to your garage…
