I have one of those VCR/DVD players...today I recorded a tv program to a DVD-R and dubbed a VHS to a DVD....after I was done, I made sure both played in the DVD part of the player....which they did. I am mailing these to my husband who is overseas...so I decided to try quick and see if they would play in the portable dvd player because he will be watching them on one...and they didn't work! What is the problem and is there a way to fix it? Thank you for your help!
I have a phonograph turntable with an RCA output and I want to connect it to my surround sound system which has RCA inputs. The phonograph doesn't have a volume adjust and when I turn my surround sound up all the way, I can barely hear my records.
I used to have the phonograph connected to a television with RCA inputs. The television had an 1/8th in. stereo jack for plugging in headphones. Using an 1/8th in. to RCA cable, I could plug the television into the surround sound and with the television volume at 100% I could adjust the volume on the surround sound and get decent audio that way. The television is now broken.
I tried to connect the phonograph to a VCR via RCA and then connect the VCR to the surround sound system via RCA but adjusting the volume on the VCR didn't affect the final output volume at all leading me to think that the VCR is just redirecting the signal and not amplifying it.
Is there any type of device I can buy that will help me get decent volume from the phonograph through my surround sound? Preferably a cheap and small one-line-in one-line-out amplifier with RCA in and out. Please please please please help me find something to solve this problem.
I was in walmart looking at dvd recorders/vhs machines and have been for a while,i was thinking since VCR's are going out that using a DVD recorder was the new thing, but i was told that the dvd recorder/vhs machines don't have a tuner in them and cannot record off tv.I could get sat tv ie dish/direct tv,but i used to have direct tv but seldom watched it,so why get sat tv just to use a DVR to record a few local tv programs that i like to watch.so my question is can i use the audio in/out to my tv in out<digital HD tv>since i have a tuner in the tv and use the dvd recorder part of the combo to record my local tv shows to watch later.any help would be appreciated.
I thought of that as well robert w,what im really trying to find out is,other than Tvo,a satilite DVR is there a way to record from your tv to a dvd recorder.?
because Tvo is a pay service as well as the DVR's.i mite go that option one day,but am looking for short term.thanx for your comment though.
I recorded VCR home movies onto a DVD via my recorder. I cannot get them to play in any other DVD player other than the one that I recorded them.
I'm moving out of my parents' house for the first time in a few months, but I thought about a potential problem with roaches moving with me! I HATE bugs, and the whole point of moving is to get a fresh start. I'm a college student without a whole lot of money at my disposal (its a miracle even that I'm able to afford moving out!!!). I own an oldschool tv (as in NOT HD/LCD tv) w/ slits for ventilation in the back, a DVD player w/ ventilation on the bottom, a VCR with the front "Tape-cover" thing broken off, a vinyl record player/turntable, an el-cheapo Lexxon subwoofer-home theater system, a 4 channel mixer, and a portable Zoom digital recording studio. Oh yeah, and I just got a printer for my birthday...
What are some tricks or hints or pieces of advice that any of you may have when experiencing similar issues?

HEY "tk" I don't see how this is a stupid question, not nearly as much as you gave me a stupid answer because you can't spray "INSIDE OF" electronic devices where the roaches are attracted to the warmth and the equipment! Thank you for being insensitive!
I want a DVD Player that records a TV show on a disk. Similar to how a VCR used to do it. Can I get a good cheap one?
I'm trying to record television shows onto a DVD, but I'm not sure how. My TV is connected to a VCR, and I'm able to record onto blank VHS tapes, but I want the shows on DVD, not VHS. I have a DVD player connected to the TV also, but I'm not sure how to make it record the TV. When I try to record from the cable itself, the only option is to record using my VCR, not DVD player. I'm using Cox Cable without DVR by the way. What should I do?
I have a project at school to do that requires me to edit an episode of a healthcare related show and follow a legal case through the entire episode without any commercials or other filler information from the episode. If I just record a show on television with my VCR I will have to take that tape somewhere to get it edited down to only what I need so I am curious to know if it is possible to play a movie on your dvd player and record it on your vhs, so that I could do my own editing of sorts. If someone can please tell me if this is possible and how to do it I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
I'm really dum and I don't even know the basics of recording TV Shows on a VCR, please tell me how it is done. I have a LG Electronics DVD PLAYER/VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER Model; V782W. I don''t have fancy cable tv or satellite tv or digital tv, just a normal analogue tv signal. I want to record 2, 45 min episodes of dr who, the end of time which is going to be broadcasted on the 14th feb 2010. Plus, if I record 1, 45 min, show on one tape, and I start recording the other on the same tape, is the second episode going to overwrite the first or are they both going to stay on the tape or is the second show not going to be recorded at all or what? Also, if the tape is going to be long enough, can i record the 2, 45 min, episodes plus more tv shows
I've installed 4 samsung surveillance's cameras. I've networked them to see live video from the shop while I'm at home through the internet. I have a simple player that will record 10 mins at a time. I need to record from the time I leave at night to when I get back the next morning. Don't have much money for further equipment. Is there free or cheap software or something I can get to record as much video as I need for when the shop is closed.
I would love to use the vcr for recording...I need to know how to do this from home, using a video capture card and a vcr? Help me please....
I have a Toshiba DVD/VHS Player/Recorder and I want to record my DVR shows onton VHS tapes from my Dish Network DVR. I only have one composite cable (red, white, yellow), and the DVR and the VCR are on the same channel (3). I am not sure that the DVR and the VCR are connected to each other the right way becasue when I play a DVR event and try and record it, the VHS Recorder only records a blank "No Signal" screen. I need to get the VCR to record what the DVR is displaying. I have the composite cable going from my DVR to the "input" at the back of the VCR. My TV works so that I can switch from TV to AV, with TV being where I can watch my DVR and AV being where I can watch my VCR so I want to be able to record my DVR using my VCR
I used to have basic calbe (Comcast) and last week "upgraded" to their digital cable service (they brought this small box thing and hooked it up).
I used to be able to watch one TV channel and record another and now I can't. At first I thought the cable was connected to the TV and not the VCR and that I just needed to switch the calbe. Not the case.
The cable runs from the wall into the box thing, then from the box thing to the VCR.
HELP!!! Tonight at 9:00 I usually watch "24" and record "Heroes"!
I know how to record shows with a VCR, but cassette tapes only record for up to 2 hours and I will be away from home all day. My Dvd player is a Samsung

I have dish network tv. I have my tv and the DVD Player/Recorder and satellite all hooked up. I pushed record to see if it would tape Hannah Montana for my little girl. After the show I stopped it and I finalized it. I took the cd out and put it in my computer. It shows no disc in drive. I used the Maxell DVD -R 4.7 GB and set it up for 3 hours just playing around. It won't play on my computer. I was hoping to record movies and then after I get used to it hook it up with my vcr and put all my VHS movies onto cd. I've heard reviews about cyberhome not being good, but it was new and only cost 53.00 but with no instructions. After I finalized it and it wouldn't play on computer, I put it back into the recorder and it played on it. What do I do. I am a single parent and don't want to pay a lot of money for this. I also was hoping to quickly tape some movies for my classroom off of the science channel.
I appreciate your fast response. It will playback in the recorder so I guess I will try to buy some DVD +r. Thanks.
I need to buy six things, which order should I buy them in. Please list most important things first?

My VCR is shot, so I need a DVD recorder so I can record my soaps during the day because I don't have time during the day. I work two jobs, so their are many times when I need to record a couple of days at a time, so I can watch them all at once on my day off.
Cell Phone: Cost 0

I'm sure that most remember recording programs using a VCR for when they couldn't watch it on the channel. I have this Memorex Dual Player (Discontinued) and it has a composite port to plug other devices into. I want to record my Wii and upload it to my computer but I need to store it in something compatible with my computer. How could I record my television using a DVD player?
A VCR
A Answering Machine
A record player
