I have a regular turn-table player but when i go to play a 33, when its on the 33 setting, it plays too fast. But, when i put it on the 45 setting, it plays too slow. There is no setting in the middle. Is there something wrong with the needle or do I need the whole thing looked at?
Thanks
I recently scored a great deal on a full stereo set, it included a 5 cd changed, a dual cassette player (with high speed dubbing), AM/FM tuner, the amplified for it all, and of course, to put the cherry on the top; a very nice Sony Turn table with 2 speeds; the common 33 1/3 and then the other common, 45. Sadly, I ran a test (after noticing bad sound quality) on it and realized it spun at approximately 29 /12 RPM, causing bad distortion in the record. I checked the motor and belt and neither of them looked damage - not that I know for sure since I am not completely familiar with Record Players.
I just assumed the Motor was not functioning right, and I was told getting my turn table fixed would cost as much as buying a new one, so, I have been on the search for a somewhat cheap turntable.
It needs to have RCA cables to connect into my amplifier, and needs to be thin to be able to fit in stereo case that all the equipment came in. (not like laptop-thin, but you know, nothing humongous). Aside from that, I only use 12" vinyls, and don't plan on owning and 45s, so so long as it can play 12" vinyls - at the correct speed - I am fine with that.
It doesn't matter if it has to wait a couple of days. I want to buy him a record player but I really don't know anything about that. Is a turn table the same thing?
I think he'd really like one that could connect to his little bose radio for sound.
I was looking at this one
http://www.amazon.com/iPTUSB-Portable-Turntable-Software-Speaker/dp/B00032BOLO/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256747492&sr=1-32
It looks pretty good.
If anyone is willing could you look through these and give me a good choice?

I really can't affor anything over 0
Just something to listen to old albums. It would be great if he could connect it the the bose radio but if not it's still ok.
no burner.
a 33 1/3 rpm record on a turn table uniformly reaches its operating speed in 2.45 sec once the record player is turned on.
A)what is the angular distance traveled during this time
B)what is the corresponding arc length in ft. in the circumference of a 12-inch diameter record?
i need to know how to do this for a test tomorrow, would appreciate ur help very ,much so i don't fail
in the 1940`s record players were made to spin at 78 revolution per minute (rpm). a more modern record player spins a record at a rate of 45 rpm.if both turn table spin for 9 minutes find the difference in the number if turns they make.ORGANZIE YOUR INFORMATION AND EXPLAIN HOW STEP BY STEP
Ok - the last time I used a turn table was about 23 yrs ago so I can't remember the name of the little circlar "disk" that went fit inside the record hole to make it fit the turn table. There was also one that fit onto the turn table (as opposed to the actual record).
I need the names of these do I can search for one on Ebay....I have some old records I want to play for my kids (9 & 3 - never seen a record!!) but they're 45's & don't fit the turn table.
Just searched Ebay - is this it?

I was wondering what the difference is between a record player and a turntable.
Can you play records on both? You see on urbanoutfitters i was debating on whether to buy this Crosley AV Room Portable USB Turntable. because i recently was interested in old 80's music and i thought it would be neat to play them on vinyl.
Does this product play records or is it just to be like a DJ.. and what is the USB for(sorry not so good with technology) so if any one could please help me out and explain this to where i could understand that would be great!
thanks in advance
So my big question really is can i listen to music on a turn table by just placing the record on it?
I have a Truetone radio tuner w/ turn table it's a D1752. It was put out by Western Auto Supply Co. around 1947. I've looked on the internet, but can't find any for sale all I find are how to order parts. Thanks for your help.
