I have purchased an old HMV Viking record player and have no idea how to get the record player working. There is power to the turntable and the radio works, just can't get the turntable to turn. If you touch the stylus you can here the crackle through the speakers so the stylus is picking up the sound. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Andrew

i have an Rca victor J2-45 record player and i need to get needles or stylus for it. where can i find a place for these needles or stylus? is there a place online who sell the styluses or needles?

Along with his record player. Except it used to belong to this huge big hi-fi unit, so I need an amplifier and speakers for it to play. But today I was bored and got it out, and plugged it in just to see if it actually works. I played some Blondie, and there was sound coming out but obviously because it doesn’t have built in speakers or an amp, it was reeeeally quiet. But anyway, I took it off and started listening to another vinyl but this time the needle like, caught on the record, and it wouldn’t spin.

Since I have NO clue about record players and vinyl, can someone tell me if this means I have to get a new stylus/needle? And also, what can I do about, when the record is playing and it gets to the end, my needle just like, drags across the record! I’m afraid it will scratch it! How can I stop this from happening?

THESE ARE ON 45 RPM RECORDS PROBABLY DONE IN A BOOTH IN USA AND ARE POOR QUALITY RECORDINGS. ARE THEY VALUABLE? IT IS OBVIOUSLY CHILDREN WHO WERE EVACUATED, THERE IS ALSO WRITING ON THE BROWN PAPER COVERS SAYING "PLAY ON A STYLUS? PLAYER" COS THE OTHER WEARS THEM OUT. ANY AND ALL INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

i recently came into possession of some records and a semi-new record player/cd/radio/tape combo. I started listening and during quieter parts of a song i could hear music that was played earlier, in the background, almost like an echo. In this case i was listening to Miles Davis and i could hear parts of his solo from the song before in the next song (Fast chart- Ballad)
Could this be my stylus ? and if so any idea what kind most of these combo systems use?
Please and thank you

I used to rock out to the record player. I liked the purple record, #4, with Camptown Races.

When I'd get bored with it, I'd strum the music things under the stylus.

I bought a used record player and have no idea how to use it. There is one piece that looks like it snapped where the needle and its casing meets the arm. It sort of just hangs there with wire exposed. Would I be able to super glue the two pieces together? Right now there is a long arm like this --------- and a hockey puck shaped piece with the needle under it like this ---/ How exactly do I use this player? Its a changer, so it holds 6 records at a time. I put the records on it and turned the start switch. A record dropped, but the arm didnt move. Are they supposed to move or am I supposed to manually put the needle on the vinyl? I tried it and it played, but because it was hanging, it skipped at places. I notice when I play with the volume dial, it works but its extremely static (the speakers). How do I adjust this? Also, will the vinyl having some dust effect how it plays. Its not horrible but I was wondering if that would make a big difference because it seems they get dusty easily. I would like to get this thing working myself instead of taking it somewhere to be repaired. Thanks for all of the help!
It plays all lengths and speeds and its an older set from the 70s...I ended up supergluing the stylus back onto the tone arm and it automatically starts and drops onto the proper place on the record now. Thanks !

Want to purchase in Mangalore itself

Should be in a good working condition with good Stylus

Thanks-a-lot for your fast response.

My dad has an old record player he wants to give me. Only problem is the needle needs replaced. It is a realistic Lab-3000 precision turntable. I wrote down the numbers and letters on the stylus and cartridge. The numbers and letters are:

Shure RSEB
Realistic r47eb

I can't find an exact replacement because it's too old at least I think. Is there any equivalent to this stylus and cartridge I can buy? Or anywhere I can get the exact stylus? I'm pretty sure only the needle needs replaced. Everything else is in perfect condition. Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

I recently bought some records from a garage sale. The intention was to use them and the jackets as decorations for my apartment. The next garage sale i went to however had an old record player for sale for so i figured i would make a hobby out of collecting records. the turntable seams to be in good working order however the needle/stylus is broken and i have no idea what type of stylus is compatible. what should i order?

What stylus/needle is compatible with a stock BIC 980 turntable? and where is the best place to order it from?

Okay, please, please, please do not tell me to go to their website!!! Been there, done that. No answer.

I have tried Radio Shack -- they don't have the right one.

I have called the Memorex 800# -- they said they were going to do something about it, but they have not -- I have called back twice already and it has been 2 months since I began this search.

I am hoping to find someone who knows of a parts outlet or something similar to where I may be able to get some from there.

The details: Model #MX5520 -- There is also an SPK after that if that means anything. Also, the original one that was on it was red, if that makes any difference.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. This stereo has been hardly even used -- is practically like new, but the stylus got broken when moving and we really need to get this replaced. Why is it so hard to find these things???

I just got a new record player, but someone said it might need a new stylus and i need a reciever, How much would this cost me?

I purchased a BSR 20-BPX record player off of ebay as a Christmas gift. It was reported as working but needed a new stylus, I bought it and when I receieved it the table would not spin. I emailed the seller who told me to take it to claims at the post office. I would like someone who knows about record players to help me! I want it to work. It makes a squeaking noise when turned to play, as if it is trying to turn the belts... Any advice or website or business... anything! I live in CO. Thank you
