My friend has this 30-some year old turntable which works perfectly fine, except that It's very quiet. We've hooked it up to two different sets of speakers and it's still too quiet. The speakers work perfectly with everything else, and we have records in good condition, so we know it's a problem with the record player. Presumably, whatever amplifies the sound is broken. How can we fix this? Is it something we can easily fix ourselves internally in the actual player, or is there a preamp we could buy and just plug into the player before it runs into the speakers? The player uses av cords to connect, we actually hooked it up to a tv and it worked. It's also loud enough that you can easily hear it, it just could be a bit louder. Neither of us have any technical knowledge of record players, so that's about as detailed as I can get. Any ideas?
Would it damage the amp or the record player?
And yes, I want to use the tube amp as speakers for my record player.
This is my amp:

I have a box full of records I got for free. some trance stuff some 70's/80's albums. I want to buy a turntable so I can finally enjoy them. What kind is good...Numark perhaps? also, I guess I'd need to buy a mixer and speakers to use the record player? I don't want to pay too much but I also only want to make this purchase once so it has to be good quality. thanks!
I am taking an old antique radio and putting a new sound system in it. Its about 3 ft tall.. 10' deep... I want to put the speakers out of the front but i have a 10' sub i would like to put in it.. should i put it below the two speakers facing the same way or put it facing the ground.. or facing the rear.... let me know... this might sound stupid but its just a project im trying because i have extra stuff that i wont use and have lots of time on my hands.. get back to me... thanks
i bought a crosley record player from target to play my old records but even when i have the volume turned down as low as it will go its still blasting the hell out of the speakers...

I know that the second one has speakers, my question is mainly aimed toward the first one
I really want to buy my boyfriend a new record player because his dad had to sell his when they were in a money crunch
Ive been looking at this one and it has everything, other than speakers

lol sorry, I thought that i had put that in there before
okay i bought a crosley record player with speakers built into it.
when you turn the volume knob it also turn it on... so i turn it to like the first notch and its super loud... and not quiet like i would expect it to be. but even when i turn the knob up it doesnt change... here is also a tone knob and it works fine..
is there something wrong with the volume knob?
if so how should i fix it because i dont really want to go get an exchange or refund or anything...
I saw an ad on Craigslist for a vintage stereo system from the 80's (the receiver and record player look good), but I don't know much about speakers. The ad says it has: Technics Receiver
Pioneer Turntable
Yamaha speakers
I want a record player/turntable that plays modern and old vinyl. I don't want to spend more than £60 ideally. I have a variety of speakers so it doesnt have to come with any. It doesnt have to be 3 speed either because i only use 33rpm and 45rpm. I just think they're really retro and want one. Any suggestions/revies on one to get?
I want to buy some modern LP's from some bands (The National, Gaslight Anthem, Elvis Costello, etc...) and was wondering where to start?
Should I buy a Record Player or a Turntable?
Would the speakers on the record player go out pretty quick, leaving me needing another one?
Would either of them play all the different sizes of records, or would I need to buy special attachments?
Would they both be able to play older records if I picked some up at garage sales?
What are some good brands, should I go used or new, do turntables have something where I could plug speakers into?
I am completely clueless when it comes to this topic, but am itching to start collecting them. Thanks!
Edit: Like for example; what if I bought a turntable that had a speaker jack, and then bought a little guitar amp. Would this work?
Like something like this:

With type of amp:

I love my vinyl collection but I cannot figure out how to get full sound out of my old school record player on my modern set up. It has the red & white cords coming out of it, along with a third wire that I used to hook up to my antenna "screw" on my old receiver. I can hook it all up and get a whisper of sound from the speakers but no more than that. HELP! Do I have to buy a new turntable???
I bought it used at a thrift store. I played a new record on it, but it sounds like a broken record. Is there a way to fix this?
Not sure if it's an all in one flip top. It's got a tape player on it. The speakers work fine.
Ive tried it in my TV and it wont work. Im wondering if it might be a needle problem and if there is a way I can test to see the needle is okay. Or if maybe I should be trying it in something else. I cant seem to find any speakers or radio's in my house with this kind of an input. It may just be because theyre newer, but I have some older stuff too. Also, is there a way to see if a record is a 33 or a 45... my players has two speeds and Im not sure what to put it on.

To further clarify, there is no kind of volume at all. It is a "Stereo Record Player Model #683-1783 Made for J.C.Penny Cor"
But I cant find anything googling that Model No. (pertinent anyways, with the exception of some replacement parts available)
Its a very simple model with only an on-off switch and a 33-45 switch. And then a power and the two RCA lookin' plugs comin out. Oh and the colors are Red and Black if that helps (though I dont think it makes a difference)
And finally, I dont think anything is wrong with the needle, just kind of throwing something out.
Any way of improving upon the strength of the signal if it is in fact that my TV just isnt receiving it?
I am on a quest for the ultimate music player that has all of the following qualities
-plays music, video, and photos
-has fm tuner
-has fm recording and voice recording
-a memory capacity of 30gb or higher so that lots of music, pics, and full length movies can be held on it
-has extras such as calendar, contacts, schedule
-games can be played on it
-has alarm clock function that will work with its speakers
-has color screens
Pretty much just the ultimate mp3 player you can think of that does everything!
Thanks = ]
I have an old vintage radio that stands about 4 ft tall. I want to take out the old tube radio and replace with car radio and two new speakers. Also possibly a sub woofer and amp will be placed in it.. Any guidance on how to convert the car stereo to run all this on an 12v outlet plug. Also can I put my 12 '' sub woofer and 600 w amp in it and still sound good.... Answer me thanks
Well, I was thumbin' from Montgomery
Had my guitar on my back
When a stranger stopped beside me in an antique Cadillac
He was dressed like 1950, half drunk and hollow eyed
He said, It's a long walk to Nashville. Would you like a ride?
I sat down in the front seat. He turned on the radio
And them sad old songs comin' out of them speakers was solid country gold
Then I noticed the stranger was ghost white pale when he asked me for a light
And I knew there was something strange about this ride
He said,
Drifter, can you make folks cry when you play and sing?
Have you paid your dues?
Can you moan the Blues?
Can you bend them guitar strings?
He said, Boy, can you make folks feel what you feel inside?
Cause if you're big-star bound, let me warn you it's a long, hard ride
Then he cried just south of Nashville and he turned that car around
He said, This is where you get off, Boy, Cause I'm goin' back to Alabam'
As I stepped out of that Cadillac, I said Mister many thanks
He said, No need to call me Mister, Mister
The whole world called me 'Hank'!"
He said, "Drifter, can you make folks cry when you play and sing?
Have you paid your dues?
Can you m-o-o-oan the Blues?
Can you bend them guitar strings?"
He said, "Boy, can you make folks feel what you feel inside?
'Cause if you're big-star bound, let me warn you it's a long, hard ride."

I have a vintage 1960's record player that spins properly but has no sound. The arm of the mechanism has a, black and red, audio wire coming out if it. I want to know how to hook this specific audio cord into an independent amp? I don't want to use the phonographs built in speakers or amp. I do however want to use its arm and needle. I also should note that the phonograph has no output plugs. Please help me if you can. It would mean allot to me.

My cousin used to have an mp3 player that would connect to where the speakers to my computer hook up to. We would play a music player with her mp3 hooked up to the computer and start recording the music like that. It wasn't a usb cable it was more like a cable that would go in a mic, speaker hole on the computer. What mp3s do that 'cause I'd like to get one.
I saw this record player at a record store in the loop the other day and I really want to save up for it. Always wanted one. But I'm clueless as to what I need to do to make it work. Do I need speakers? A receiver? (I'd prefer to minimize cost). Sorry I can't help being an idiot it's my generation's fault.
whats a good record player that has speakers that can be placed where i want, not one of the crosley ones with the built in speakers. something that can play my old LP's
i forgot, i want something that can go kinda loud, but not too expensive
i have a 70's-80-'s turntable and i wnat to hook it up to make sound come out of it. ive seen others hooked up but i dont know what they use. from what ive seen the turntable sits on a larger box, im assuming this is a reciever. if it isnt some correct me. then from the reciever the speakers are plugged into that. right?
i've tried the i-sound recorder but I dont know how to use it. I just want to record a song internally from my computer without the noise of traditionally recording the speakers with a microphone. Thanks
i've been lookin fer a record player fer only bout a week and i'm wondering where i can find a cheap one that probly used, but works. i have tried tha used stores u know tha uh thrift stores, i found 2 but one tha needle was broken and fell of easily with barely touching it and tha other they wanted like 30 dollars. another thrift store wanted eighty dollars fer one ... tha owner of that thrift store said that one of record players he had was only 10 dollars but u had to also buy tha speakers and a machine that went along with it and that brought it up to fifty dollars. where can i find a record player fer a low price?
