A scene in my new home invasion movie involves a record player. One of the parents puts an old time song, that is sort of creepy, country sounding. Which of these is the best selection? I will ask the singer!

Sadie- Joanna Newsom
"Bless this house" is one of the lines, so I think it might fit.

I have a home stereo with a record player. When I play records the music sounds slow. Can this be fixed? and how?

I'd like to buy a record player. Its really nice, and it doesn't look antique but i thought it would be cool to have. My buddy has a record of Cancer Bats, which is kinda a new band.
Is there any popular (new ish) bands that still make records?
I like any music really, and im not looking for anything from the 60's or anything lol

I'm looking for a whole new set up, except for the record player, for under 0. I have looked at Onkyo's Home Theater systems (sr600 and sr800) but I have yet to hear of the quality of sound for playing vinyl. Home theater systems may be easier but I am not opposed to a separate receiver and speakers.

I listen to mostly records but I also frequently listen to my iPod and sometimes CD's and movies. Also if it is of any help, I listen to mostly folk and indie rock.

Any suggestions??

I'm looking at buying a 1930's-40's Victrola (or something like it) record player to play some Glenn Miller 78's I have. What I'm wondering is can those players play 45's or LP's or will they only play 78's? Did they make any players after the 40's that can play both? I know VERY little about record players so any help would be awesome. Thanks!

i have an Rca victor J2-45 record player and i need to get needles or stylus for it. where can i find a place for these needles or stylus? is there a place online who sell the styluses or needles?

I'm a kid of '92, I'm not supposed to know this stuff.
It's my mom's old Magnavox AS305 (record player, cassette player, radio). I haven't used the cassette player in years, it was extremely dusty, but I was able to get my mom to clean it for me. Now my problem is this terrible squealing noise. I looked it up on the Internet and it said that I needed to demagnetize it. Hooray for me, I have a demagnetizer. Too bad I have no idea how it works.

It's pretty much this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9b/Head_Demagnetizer.JPG/300px-Head_Demagnetizer.JPG

It has a battery in the back, a little red light on the front. I probably need a new battery, but I still don't know how to use this when I do get one.

Help?
Step by step, please.
Rush doesn't sound good when there's a high pitched noise all during Tom Sawyer. :( I figured out how to make the red light come on! I press the little thing at the bottom of the cassette looking thing. @.@
But what does the red light do? I'm guessing that there's something about pressing that button that makes it work.
I think I got it...
But it's still squeaking terribly. Any suggestions?

My fiancee's birthday is coming up and we are having a BBQ with a couple of friends. He loves this dessert I make that is layers of: angel food cake, whipped topping, vanilla pudding, and fresh fruit.

I was going to make his birthday BBQ into a music theme because he LOVES music (especially oldies). So I was thinking I could make that dessert but use black food coloring for the whipped topping on the very top, have it in a round serving bowl, and find a way to have the top look like a record for a record player. This takes some imagination, but I thought it would be cute.

Good idea? Bad idea? Impossible for an amateur? Any thoughts on how to accomplish this?

Thanks!

My brother is going to DJ at my party, but I'm not sure how to set it up exactly, we have a stereo system but it's inside (party's outside), two large speakers, a record player, laptop, smallll boombox, mp3 player...is there anything else I need, that i could get for cheap? I don't really know how the set up works and all, would be really thankful if someone could explain and help! thanks!!

Ion power play LP USB-powered vinyl to MP3 turntable speaker sound?
I bought the Ion power play LP USB-powered vinyl to MP3 turntable and it works fine and I've got it to play through the speakers on my computer (by adjusting the microphone default settings on my computer. My normal speakers are also set to default and are used when I play records) however it stills plays through the speakers on the turntable so I have got two sounds playing at different volumes and I was just wondering if anyone knew how to turn the sound on the record player off? Its annoying to have the background noise from the record player too. The sound would appear to be coming from the base of the tonearm. The speaker isn't listed in the little book I got with it though listing the different parts. I can live with it if I can get the sound turned off but obviously this would be better and allow me to enjoy the music fully.

Along with his record player. Except it used to belong to this huge big hi-fi unit, so I need an amplifier and speakers for it to play. But today I was bored and got it out, and plugged it in just to see if it actually works. I played some Blondie, and there was sound coming out but obviously because it doesn’t have built in speakers or an amp, it was reeeeally quiet. But anyway, I took it off and started listening to another vinyl but this time the needle like, caught on the record, and it wouldn’t spin.

Since I have NO clue about record players and vinyl, can someone tell me if this means I have to get a new stylus/needle? And also, what can I do about, when the record is playing and it gets to the end, my needle just like, drags across the record! I’m afraid it will scratch it! How can I stop this from happening?

First of, I am an 80s kid and was born in the early 80s. When it comes to making my very own home audio-recordings, I ALWAYS depend very heavily on audio-cassettes and have lived my life by them when it comes to recording all kinds of home-uses (e.g. audio-letter to a faraway friend. Audio-diary for the future. Making my very own audio-book or even doing secret recordings).

But, for me, this begs a very good and mysterious question. The music record player was replaced by the music audio-tape player. The music audio-tape player was replaced by the music CD player. The music CD player has not been replaced, but has been accompanied by other musical devices, such as the MP3 player.

For recording purposes, the Video recorder has been replaced by the DVD burner. BUT..........when it comes to making AUDIO-home recordings.....DID ANYTHING ever replace the audio-tape recorder? Was any other intention created to make home audio-recordings in place of audio-cassettes?

If such an invention was ever created, then PLEASE....someone tell me all about it. I'm really, REALLY interested to know. What IS this new, up to date, home-recording device for audio called and how do you use it? If I wanted to sit down at a table with an audio-recording device in front of me so that I could read a book onto tape or something, what would I use in place of the tape recorder?

When it comes to making home audio-recordings, I will ALWAYS love and stay very loyal to the good, old-fashioned, traditional tape and tape recorder, as they are still very plentiful over here in Scotland, UK, alongside our many DIGITAL electronics.

My Sony tape recorder is my best friend, LOL! (^_^)

Additional question....does anyone else still love their cute little audio-tapes and tape players/recorders? I LOVE RAVAGE THE TAPE FROM TRANSFORMERS TOO, LOL!

..."right place at the right time"
So, I remember listening to a 45 on my mom's record player growing up - I thought the song was titled "The Woman That Never Was" - but when I Google it, nothing comes back. It was a female lead vocalist (I think) and probably was a 70s song (since it was my mom's). I don't know the artist or the year which makes it difficult. The only additional thing I remember is there was a lyric something along the lines of "...the woman that never was, was there in the right place at the right time..." - but that's all I can remember. Help! :)

I think they played like records, I know that they were in a big plastic case. They also used a needle like a record player.

I want to buy a good record player for some records I bought. I found this one online and it looked pretty good (but I don't know much about record players at all).

Can I play all sizes of records on a standard record player? (7, 10, and 12 inch).

Thank you!
If you knew what a record was?
......vinyl? Your question doesn't make sense.....
I'm looking for a record player (not a turntable. I don't have speakers for a turntable) and want to know what I should be looking for.

I am wanting to buy records and a record player. If I buy a record player will all records play on it. I keep on seeing the numbers 78, 33, and 45 and I dont know what they mean or if one kind of record player will only play one kind of record

I'm looking for a home audio amplifier that I can use for my record player and dvd player.

Whats the best out there for under 0.
No speakers are needed

All in the question. I have a crosley vintage record player, it is vintage but plays perfect. So it plays 78, 45, 33 1/3 RPM records. So does that mean I can play LP records on it?

Any ideas? My room is kind of music/Beatles/retro. I have records and a record player on display. What else?? :D

I bought an old record player. It had a very bad home paint job, so I painted over it. It looks good, except for the fact that the paint it so matte that it looks chalky. What can I put on it to make it shiny?

I want to start getting some Records and i just seem to get confused when people talk about 7",12"45" EP,LP. And i need help on understanding what they mean. I am also getting a record player and i want to know,am I able to play them on Record Player without any problem?

I recently got a record player and right as I was using it for the first time the needle broke. I checked the number and its a AT125LC stylus. I've been looking around but cant seem to find one anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get one, or at least another needle that would work?

Some of my friends ask me am I a hipster or indie. But I'm not sure so here I go I'll tell you about myself

I'm 13 im a girl I listen to indie music because some of the bands I listen to are alternative indie rock music. I love the 90s 80s 70s 60s 50s most of the songs I listen to are classic rock music and my parents would listen to this so I grew up loving it. I like led zeppelin Jimi Hendrix pink floyd the Beatles kiss. My grandfather loves kiss and acdc and I would sing the songs with him. I like photography. I like how you can express art by just a picture. I'm not vegan though. I grew up in Texas so I LOVE MEAT. there was one time I watched an animal abuse thing and explained to be vegan I decided not to eat meat for the rest of the day but I couldnt do it we had ribs that day I couldn't help it. I love coffee but I'm too young to drink it. Im into that retro vintage thing because my neighbor dress like that and I always thought it was cool. I like poetry and I can draw pretty good everyone from my dad's side if the family can draw. My uncle is a comic book artist so he help me draw better. And If I grew up I wouldn't move to new York it's too damn expensive. I don't really know what a type of girl I am. I only dress like a hipster or whatever cause my neighbor and she's into art and she has a record player. I guess that helps?!
Im not into that pop rap stuff and i dont follow trends and because of this im not popular im mostly by myself im independent as most people describe me. i have the greatest 2 best friends. and also im a nerd kinda of. my dad collects action figures and goes to the comic book shop at least once a week. people say im into the past or whatever because i cant name the popular pop or hip hop songs. im influenced by my family and friends. Im into the retro, vintage thing cuz of the music i listen to. my fave store is earthbound. they have cool stuff in there. and my favorite accesories are sunglasses.

For a while now I've been wanting to start an LP collection. So far, I have been able to find several vinyls in excellent condition, however I do not yet have a turntable on which to play them (and yes, I do plan on playing them). Ideally, I would like a turntable which is able to play the records without causing any (or which causes very little) wear to them. However, I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on one. I'd like to spend around 0 on a turntable, but if it would make a big difference I'd be willing to pay up to around 0-250 for a good one.

Any other general advice or information I should know about turntables would be greatly appreciated. I'm very new at this, so I know very little about them. For example: one thing I have noticed is that many seem to come with dust covers. But wouldn't such a cover also obscure the sound being played rather significantly? Or do you only close it when it is not being used? Also, is any sort of amp typically required? Anything else I should know?

Thank you very much for your help
Thanks for the advice, Brandon. Another question, though: Can you typically put any cartridge on the arm of any record player, or do you have to be careful to make sure you get the right kind? Also, there are quite a few different types of Cartridges within those two brands you mentioned. How do I tell which one to get?
Alright, I've done a bit more research and it looks like two good options would be the Audio-Technica AT-PL120 or -PL50. The PL50 is about while the PL120 is 0. From what I can tell, they are both low-end, "starter" turntables, but the PL120 seems to get much better reviews. Is it really worth the extra 0 though? What is most important to me is that I cause as little wear as possible to the records. Would the PL120 be better for this?

Also, I looked into cartridges and managed to find what seems to be a fairly good one for a good price on Amazon - The Shure M97xE, for . Is this worth getting, or is the cartridge that would come with either of the above turntables adequate? Are there any others I should consider? Again, I want to reduce wear to the records as much as I can while staying within my budget.

Finally, is there any other equipment I would need to buy with these? Amplifiers, speakers, etc?

Thanks for any help

My amazing husband bought me what I've always wanted- a record player. I went out and bought some of my favorite records- and at a steal. So I go home to play them, and I can barely hear the music. I have to stand right there just to hear any noise. So what speakers do I need, and where can I find them? The model number is 304. 91810 251, it being Sears Roebuck. Thanks!
I gave you the model number and type. what more do you need? obviously, you didn't read the question lol.
