A while back I asked if the RIAA would have issues with selling an mp3 player on ebay loaded with music. Most people came back saying the RIAA very much would have a problem with that. However I still don't get it. How come it's ok to sell used CD's, DVD's, VHS tapes, records, etc? There is a legal market for all of these items. How come I can't resell my mp3 collection??? Isn't an mp3 just another form of media?
Hello, I would like to hear from some people as what their thoughts are on this. Everynight, and I do mean everynight, as I lay down to go to sleep at night, I hear music. When I get up to locate the source, I can find none. I have been having this go on for two months, this time. I have had it happen before around the time my mom passed away. I can hear music and singing, however I cannot make out any words whatsoever. Last night I gave myself a headache trying to concentrate on it. My partner who was in the bed next to me, could not hear a thing. It reminds me of an antique radio as far as sound quality goes. It almost sounds like I am listening to it through a tin can...it has a "tinny" sound. It is starting to drive me nuts as I get up every night trying to locate where the sound could be coming from, but as soon as I start searching, it's gone. Any thoughts on this?? Serious answers only please
I have thought about the brain issue however it's not that. And to Fireball....dont judge me and my lifestyle, you have no clue what I have been thru in my life. Apparently you cannot read well as I stated it starts as soon as I lay down...so unless I dream awake, its not that I'm dreaming. And which god would you have me repent to??? the one that died on the cross for ALL of US not just you. that response had nothing to do with my question so keep your comments to yourself.
Thanks for the serious answers. As far as the mental aspect goes, most schizophrenics dont question the voices they hear. They think it's normal..this was told to me by a doctor. And the fact that I thought I was crazy, pretty much means I'm not as I wouldnt be sane enough to question it. I appreciate the responses. I have looked into heating vents...mine are up high but nothing. I dont know if I mentioned this, but I have had this happen before in a different house around the time my mother passed away. I will continue to look into it.thanks again
ok so i love vintage things so i was like why not ask for a record player (or turntable) for christmas but i don't know if i would ever use it do they still make vinyl and if so do they put music from that last couple of years on it like ( this is just an example I do not expect to find this) do they make a vinyl record with miley cryus or taylor swift but if you do know then could you tell me the names of some bands or singers that have vinyl records
I want to use my laptop as a cd recorder to record music as I play it on my guitar.
I'm not too savy when it comes to turntables, but I'd like to get one that doesn't need seperate speakers. I'd like one that has them built in, and I don't want any modern players with it (cd/ipod) just a plain ole record player. Where would be the best place to find one, antique stores, ebay, craigslist, and what do I search/ask for?
wow i just realized it was in cricket... yea i thought i clicked music... hmmmm... sorry guys
I remember that it had something to do with one of those antique radios, the old wooden dome shaped one. When someone listened to the music, they became very menacing. Also, the scene was set around a mental hospital.
I saw it on tv about 20 years ago.
I remember a female doctor was listening to the radio, then I remember she was pushing some guy down a hallway in the hospital, and shoved him in a room where some freaky long-haired thing attacked him.
I was wondering if there was a way to convert my records to my computer and/or cd. I have a Crosley Rochester record player. There is no line out on the machine. Is there an alternative way to transfer the music? Here is a link to the record player I own

I have tried to record music using the data option on windows and when I play it in my car it says bad disc. I don't understand. Do I need to use another program other than windows media player to record the cd?
tape deck. I want to record my LP vinyles and I would like to record all that music on my lap top which is also sony viao, and then burn cd's for those reccords. can some one patiently explain how to do that. My lap top has cd burner. My thought is to have a lead go into the head phone socket of the reciever and other end plug in to red color mic socket. and than use the windows media player as recorder, is that possible, i am not tech savy but can apply my mind to it if there is some guidence.
Can I bring a portable media player with mp3's, recorded TV into another country and make it through customs?
I have a creative Zen Vision W portable media player, it has all of my music, recorded TV, home movies, pictures and other media Ect.
I am traveling to New Zealand later this year, and I am worried about going through customs with a device like this, is there any cause for concern? has anyone else gone through customs with a device like this? what about coming back to America?

I dont need it to download music or watch videos - I would like to find a good quality product that would download a wide variety of common podcast files, and have a reasonable battery and recording capacity (say 10 hours plus). I dont want to go overboard and pay too much to get something with features I dont want.
My fiance has started to collect records and as a wedding gift I would like to get him a nice record player. What type of details do I need to look for? He mentioned USB so he could put the music on his computer. I've looked at Target and they have quite a few from the brand "Crosley" is that a good brand? Thanks for the help!
Hi,
I've been facing a problem lately while recording audio and saving it as mp3 files. I use creative mediasource player and its mp3 plugin to record and save the audio as mp3. Earlier I would set the recording source to 'stereo mix' and play the music and press the record button to record it. After stopping the recording i was automatically prompted to save the file. Nowadays, when i follow the same process, i get a small file of 4-5kb in size saved as an mp3. On playing this file, there is no audio to be heard. It appears as if there's no audio data in this mp3 file at all.
I'm surprised as to why am i not able to save the audio as mp3/wav/wma format even after recording the audio thru stereo mix thru creative's mediasource software. I was able to do this successfully earlier. I dont know what has changed since then that the recording doesnt work.
Using stereo mix to record thru 'audacity' works very well though.
Eagerly awaiting your kind and helpful replies.
Thanks.
I would prefer to use mediasource to audacity coz mediasource has the convenient 'record sync' option. With audacity, i get lots of extra audio length which is added b4 and after the audio is played and stopped. Record sync starts the recording only when the audio is played and stops the recording when the audio is stopped.
I already have a ton of music on my computer, I just need it to be portable, and I really only need 8 hours of music on it. What is the cheapest, most reliable, easiest to use device? Can I load songs into several playlists? Does it have a simple menu that lets me select from multiple playlists? Is it plug and record - just plug into a Windows computer, and record the songs I want on it quickly and easily, automatically converting the file format?
I have a ton of vinyl records and would like to be able to put them onto my computer so I can transfer them to an iPod or a Zune so I can listen to them. How do you get music off of vinyl and onto a computer in Mp3 format? I have a record player and a computer, but no idea how to link the 2. Suggestions?
I recently got a record player that transfers music to my computer via USB cable. The first few days I had it, it sounded great and I picked up great recordings on my computer. But shortly thereafter, the sound quality became very poor. I normally leave it plugged into my stereo (It had great sound there too at first) and through both the stereo and computer the sound is bright, it echoes a little and the balance between different vocal lines and instrumental lines is terrible!
Could this be a problem with the needle? (Like I say, it's very new and doesn't get played A LOT.)
Are my records in bad shape?
I have acquired a few old 78rpm records. Now, i have a record player that can play at the rate of 78, but it seems there is a problem with a few of the records. The record just sounds sped up, just by a bit, but it makes the song sound high-pitched, and annoying. I am wondering if this is a fault of the record, or just that some records are too fast for modern players?
I also have another question concerning records. I very recently got another record, which unfortunately has been cracked (The label is Coral, which seems to create VERY easily brake-able records). The crack doesn't affect play much, except for the occasional "pop". Now, my question is, at the beginning of the song (this will be difficult to explain), the music starts, then when the singers come in, their voices are contorted in a strange echo-y, and fuzzy way, only for the one beginning line, then the rest of the song is normal. My guess would be dirt, or something similar causing this, for i have yet to acquire a cleaner. But i just wanted to know if it was (again) the record itself.
I hope all that made sense, i try to explain best i can. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :]
Is it OK to record a song from the radio on my MP3 player and listen to it like any other MP3 I own?
My MP3 Player has an FM radio and I can record music off the radio, Is it legal for me to record the radio and listen to the MP3?
Back in the eighties I used to record the radio onto tape and listen to it later, was that legal then?
For Christmas, I bought my friend an awesome vintage 70's record player that lights up and says "Dancing Machine" on the front. I absolutely love it. I also bought her two brand new records by her favourite bands.
The thing is, this girl, Emma, is more of a "frien-emy", and a lot of other people in my group of friends say she really doesn't deserve such a good and big gift, especially since she's such a bad friend to me.
One of my other friends said she knows what my gift is from Emma, and that it "sucks" compared to what I got her. She told Emma how I got her an amazing and big present, and apparently Emma said, "Well, I don't care, I'm not getting her anything else, I'm not made of money."
This record player is amazing, and I'd love to keep it. I'll probably never find one like it again. Even my mom says Emma doesn't deserve it and I should keep it for myself, since I love music and have a ton of records.
So, do you think I should I keep the record player for myself and just give the two records to Emma, or give her the amazing record player as well?
My fiancee and I are having a wedding ceremony and reception next year. I'm trying to figure out what we should do about music. The ceremony will be short and informal - there will be no walking down the aisle or wedding attendants. Then, we'll follow that with the reception (both the ceremony and reception will be at the same place). We are having a 1950s theme. I was thinking of buying a new vintage-style record player (http://www.crosleyradio.com/prods/cr73-3.html) that comes equipped with a CD player so that we could play our 50's CDs, but keep the look of a 1950's party. We are also considering hiring a DJ - if the prices are reasonable. We are trying to do this as cheaply as possible. My question is, would the record player put out enough sound? We are having a wedding with 100 guests in this room (http://www.hamlinhouserestaurant.com/Weddingpage.html) and no dance floor.
I'm not sure if the record player link worked. This one might be better: http://www.crosleyradio.com/prods/cr73-3.html
Is anyone actually reading this question? I'm not asking for song suggestions!
Hi. I recently was given a second hand record player by a friend. I am ashamed to say that although i have listened to loads of vinyl records when i was a kid (my dad lost all his records and player during a move) i do not know anything about actually playing a record! i am 19 now. I have always loved the sound compared to cds and now i want to build up a vinyl collection from scratch. I still have one 7 inch record and another 12 inch one.My player Semi-automated turntable and has two speed knobes - 33and 45.and as far as i can see there is no needle on the edge of that handle thingy. its just a square like thing. Can someone explain what all this means very simply. I have spent hours online trying to read up on this but i have gotten even more confused with all the terms. what is EP and LP? what is 78 rpm, 45 rpm, 33⅓ rpm? what records should i buy? what player plays what kind of record? i can't ask my parents cause they are not around. Please please help me out. sorry if i sound stupid but this is a part of my childhood that i want back. thanks alot
My player is a semi-automated turntable Sherwood PD-701B

I recently bought some of my first records from my friend's garage sale and I would use my grandpa's old record player we have but it is broken. I'd like to buy my own, but I need to know some good record players. I'd like a fairly nice one, easily moveable, and not too expensive. Also, what are the different sizes of records that music comes in? Thanks!
I am redoing my room as my birthday present and I need Ideas. I am going to paint one wall neon green and the rest neon blue with splatter paint. I am going to paint the door and trim Neon pink, the closet doors Neon Orange and the closet neon yellow. Then my friends and i are taking spray paint and writing all our inside jokes and stuff on the inside of my closet. I know it will be bright, but I LOVE neon colors!!!! So anyway, I need help with my decor. I love bright colors, as you know. i love converse and skinny jeans. Acting is my life!!!!! I am obsessed with music. I have a record player in my room. I love vintage. I love celebrities too. I play guitar, trumpet, drums, piano, saxaphone and flute. Guitar is my favorite tho. Starbucks is my love. Those are just a couple of my favorite things. Please give me some ideas!!!!
The discs are in perfect condition, but I have two systems that do this. The home stereo does it after a few hours of playing, and the car stereo does it on every CD about five minutes after starting (even if I start it toward the end or somewhere besides the beginning.)
The symptoms: Music continues to play as expected, except it is accompanied by rather loud noises that sound somewhat like a record player when you bump it while it's playing-- loud, low-pitched static. In the car this lasts for a few minutes and then goes away. The home stereo does it until you turn it off for a few hours. My sister described the noise in the car as something trying to scratch its way into the bottom of the car.
The CD players aren't picky about which CDs they'll do it on...it's more of how long they've been playing. No damage appears to be done to the CDs, they work just fine in other CD players. They are not dirty or scratched, I checked already.
(please wait to comment --I have more)
I want to think that this is a dirty lens problem but I am definitely unsure, as I have never owned or used a CD player cleaning kit before.
Okay you can answer now, I'm done.
