Back in the day, my grandma crocheted doilies, emproidered doilies, and used doilies on the chairs, tables and anyplace flat. They used doilies on "Happy Days".
Do you remember them being starched? The ruffles all poked up all around, then you'd put a candy dish or lamp on it to protect the furniture.
If you still have them, where are they?
I have one on top of an antique radio (bulbs, remember taking them to the market to be tested on their machines), one under my grandmas hopechest (remember those), the rest have sit in a drawer.
It's sad to me that the old, beautiful, handmade items are not appreciated as much these days. My kid sure doesn't want anything to do with them.
So I could not wait for the snow to melt, so I tried using my son's radio controlled helicopter in the living room. I soon realized that it was a mistake when I crashed into the mantle and took out Great Grandma Harriets' family heirloom, a German beer stein from like 1908.
Should I blame the oldest one who is never in trouble, but should really have a lesson in unjust parental discipline. ( he is quite overdue).
Or should I blame the youngest one again, who just recently finished "his" punishment for breaking the mother in laws picture hanging in the den. ( hey, who knew Nerf dart guns could pack so much power )
I mean he is used to it anyway. So I'm thinking of strategically placing one of his toy projectiles up on the mantle as evidence. This should leave no doubt about his guilt.
Of course when she is not around, all punishments will be excused, cause I will be good Dad vs. mean Mom.
And really it is her fault anyway. That guy from Antique Roadshow told her how much it was worth. It should never been out in the open.
So, who should it be??
deevious--- why can't I be both?
ok my room is quite small. i have a door facing north and to the left of the door is the closet. east side of the window is a window that is always open. i also have a ceiling. i have a small bed and its headboard is in the middle of the south wall. i have a bunch of my grandma antiques collectibles. and on this old record player thing that is on the west wall is my tv and directtv box and my x box and its games. then i have a mirror that is facing the left (west) side of my bed and a mirror is on the side of the closet. and it is facing the west wall. uhhh... next to the record playing thing on the west wall is like i tiny little thing with shelves and it has a bunch of antique crap. then between window and closet is a sewing table with more antique crap. so yeah... anyway i can make the room more feng shui....????

I found it at my great grandma's house when we were claning and it was very dusty and a few of the old records are dusty also and need to be cleaned. I belive these records are Edison Diamond Discs. Are there any normal household cleaning products i can use to clean it? I don't want to buy a special cleaner.
Hi yall, I'm really into iTunes, I've bought like three tthousand songs on there it rocks. But like my grandma just gave me this record player, and I was wondering if I can play the soundtrack from a Lasers Disc on the record player ? The size is exactly like the same so I think it could work.
I got a old music box that belong to my great grandma. My Mom give it to me along time ago and now I want to get it restore so I can give it back to my Mom. ( My Mom was really close to her grandma. ) I want to know is any place I can take it too or can I call anyone to get it fix.
