I have a stack of old records of my parents and grandparents from way back. Right now I have an old '70s RCA tabletop receiver with a built-in turntable. The speaker outputs are shot so I'm looking for a new turntable with all three speeds 33, 45, & 78. I'm not a DJ so I don't need fancy switches and buttons, etc. Just something with an on/off switch and a speed switch. I'll just be listening for normal pleasure in a my home. What are the best brands of record players? Cartridges? Needles? What do they cost? From experience, how long do they last? I'm trying to build an entire stereo from scratch so I want the best. I've bought cheap pieces of crap for 0 that sound very bad. Such as Emerson, the "sad excuse for being classic" Crosley replicas, etc. I only want the stand alone turntable, not an all-in-one set-up.

Starting November 3rd, BET is airing a DJ reality show hosted by Just Blaze. It looks like it's the same basic protocol, they live in a house and compete against each other (mixing, scratching, & I think producing too). Style-wise it's a diverse group: Kid Scratch, DJ Revolution, this drum n bass chick...Anyway I think this could be good, I've been a fan of turntablism and such for a while. I have a long piece thingee that I put aloot of stuff on - the top lifts up to display an 8-track player & record player....it used to belong to my grand parents

i have a Inovalley Retro Styled HiFi System,FM Radio,Vinyl Record Player & CD Player,
but it came with a faulty needle but i didnt think it was worth sending back, but i still need to find somewhere to find a new needle as it comes out strange ive tested everything else on the
sytem but the last thing is the needle, so any ideas?
i am a teenager and dont have too much knoweledge on this subject so i would love any answers

I know that the second one has speakers, my question is mainly aimed toward the first one

Hello,
Does any one know if I need to puchase a DVD blank disk in order to play a movie I made with window movie maker in dvd player? The software I have to record on disk is "Burn CDs & DVDs with RecordNow!". I tried to burn the movie on CD-R disk, but I couldn't play it on a dvd player. Is it the disk I used to record that prevent me from playing it on a dvd player or the software? thanks

I found a old 1950s Bakelite Admiral Record player/Radio at a antique shop. It was in very good condition, it turned on the radio worked, but it seems that the needle for the player is blunt (Not much of a surprise). Now i am no record player expert. So i would just like to know what kind of needle this type of player would need to play 78 rpm records. I looked at the needle area, and there were some numbers "8 18 9". I am not sure what they mean, but if anyone knows, or has a little information on this matter i would greatly appreciate any help.

Also just while i am asking about this... I assume this is happening because of the needle. But it seems when i tried out a record the sound seemed like it would play through the speaker then switch to playing through the needle then back to the speaker. If anyone has any idea what that is about i would appreciate help with that too.

I also would put pictures to help, but i cant seem to upload any. I did find a picture on the internet that is a almost exact match to my player. So i hope it will help some. :]

I also forgot to mention. The needle seems to be a cartridge needle, with the needle being slightly bent as it reaches its point.

It's gone way too far, it's absaloutely ludicrous.
I know this is more of a rant than a question and I know the community guidelines is not to rant but I want to hear everyone's opinion on what they encountered on these pathetic regualtions.

I was staggered when I heard on the radio that school children had to wear goggles for BLU TACK!
And there's a lot more than that!
1. Children banned from running around in the playround due to accidents
2. You cannot put up a poster without a member of staff
3. Can't use the foam spray in case you would "slip" and be badly "injured"
4.You can't try out earrings because of a stupid H&S risk
5. School trips have been cancelled for precaution issues.
6.You have to wear a helmet to skateboard, go on your scooter
7. You cannot go near expeditions or any sort of display of art up close because you could "knock it over"
8.Can't buy antiques unless you inform the staff you are intending to purchase it.
9. Children can't bounce on big trampolines because the springs could break and they could fall through (which is VERY unlikely to happen)
10. You have to have stepladder "training" before becoming a proffessional worker like a window cleaner.

The list goes on. And also which angered me the most is that I registered for a job at the Animal Welfare Trust and they couldn't take me on because of the three idiotic words, which I'm not going to mention. So that means I can't register until next year!

I love my vinyl collection but I cannot figure out how to get full sound out of my old school record player on my modern set up. It has the red & white cords coming out of it, along with a third wire that I used to hook up to my antenna "screw" on my old receiver. I can hook it all up and get a whisper of sound from the speakers but no more than that. HELP! Do I have to buy a new turntable???

I have Old TV, Converter Box, Portable DVD Player, VCR, and WII. I want to be able to watch tv, watch movies (dvd/vcr), and play wii. I won't do anything fancy like watch & record. I will only watch. How can I connect them, so I won't have to keep reconnecting them? Right now, only tv, converter box, and wii are connected.

I have an old vintage radio that stands about 4 ft tall. I want to take out the old tube radio and replace with car radio and two new speakers. Also possibly a sub woofer and amp will be placed in it.. Any guidance on how to convert the car stereo to run all this on an 12v outlet plug. Also can I put my 12 '' sub woofer and 600 w amp in it and still sound good.... Answer me thanks

I'm looking to buy a turntable that has built in speakers and/or an amp. I don't need a big amp and external speakers since it would just be for personal at-home listening, not for DJing or anything like that. What do I need and what kind of turntable should I get?

I am doing a project for school with an underwater ROV. We've wired it with a camera so that on the other end it has a RCA cable. I have a portable DVD play and all the specs are at this radio shack web site.

But were are looking for some way that we can record a live video feed from the dvd player. But i also have a RCA splitter so i can hook it to the recording device. But i am having trouble figuring out what kind of device we can use. Whether it is a camera or recording device, but it can't be anything that requires to be constantly plugged in. because we go on boats and everything so, it would be better if it was battery operated.
