Retro Wedding?
I'm planning a 1950's wedding but am having trouble envisioning what it will be like. I don't want it to be about juke boxes, poodle skirts, and music notes. I'd like something a little more formal but can't figure out what. Does anyone have any ideas for:
1. Decorations
2. Favors
3. Music source - record player, dj, CD player hidden beneath table, ect.
The wedding and reception will be here: http://www.hamlinhouserestaurant.com/Weddingpage.html
Research Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe. The reception site is beautiful. Have you spoken to them about it? Surely they can offer some assiatance. What were the 50’s all about? Research it. You will find tons of stuff to use. Old movies would be another good place to go. "Breakfast at Tiffanys" great place to start.
Look up Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly weddings. I think they both wed in the 1950s and were style icons of the day. An Audrey inspired wedding could be just wonderful, and to take it a step further, pick one of her movies and theme it off of that. Breakfast at Tiffany’s or My Fair Lady would make great choices and give you lots of ideas for decorating and favors.
The music source does not need to be 1950-accurate, nor does the music need to fit exactly into your theme. If there will be dancing, provide music (and source!) that will be to your liking.
Think the style needs to be very Dior, Chanel, and the like.
I think that "classic traditional wedding" has been around for a while. It’s the clothing that will set the tone more than anything.
