My parents had a HiFi, & it was used a lot for playing records & listening to radio stations. I don't remember the first record that I ever bought, but, when I was twelve, my mum gave me Glen Campbell's Gentle On My Mind, Eddie Arnold's Turn The World Around, & a classical album by the Eugene Ormandy Symphony (or Orchestra), my first grown up records. We probably had 45s, as well.

OMG! Showing our age now. I clearly remember stacking those 45's and dancing around in front of the mirror, using a hairbrush for my microphone.

The first 45 I purchased was "Red Rubber Ball".
