Mini DV is a cassette, you can not just take it out and put it in your DVD player as...well, it's a tape.

Some newer camcorders record to mini DVD's but they are having problems with this standard due to the fact that if you bump your camcorder or the battery dies while it is recording you'll lose EVERYTHING you recorded.

Most experts agree that while it is cool to use these mini dvd's to just put into a dvd player...it isn't worth the risk of losing your ENTIRE recording for this convince.

Just buy a Mini DV camcorder, ensure it has Video/audio OUTPUTS, all you have to do is hook it up to your TV and boom you can watch it off the Mini DV tape. Not to mention Mini DV tapes cost WAY LESS than DVD's...and can be erased over and over.
