mid ’40’s Sparton Radio/phono question?
Hope there are some antique radio buffs out there...I have a mid 1940's Sparton radio/phonograph.....the thing works perfectly except that the phono produces no sound (or very little sound) I tried a new needle ...I know the speakers are ok cause the radio sounds fine...any ideas? These old tube radios are a mystery to me...I just like refinishing the cabinets....thanks.
I’m with you. I’ve got some beautiful radios and a Victrola that won’t play a sound - but look pretty.
There’s a number of places on the web where you can find a directory to an old bent-over, bearded guy with an old tube tester who can still fix vacuum tube sets. Go for it - or not, and just gaze at it ;<)
Remember when you’d go to the pharmacy and test your tubes!?
Here’s one, there are many others:
