is there a way to record divx video from my pc with a regular cd burner to make it play on my home DVD player

   Yes. But it depends on your DVD player. If you really have only a standard CD burner, you need to make Video CDs. In case your DVD player also supports Super VideoCDs, you will get a slightly better picture quality.

   Nero burning Rom can help you with burning the CDs in the proper format.
   However, Nero is pretty slow for converting the Divx video into the MPEG format.

   Therefore, encode your Divx to a standard VCD Mpeg with TmpgEnc, and then burn the file with Nero as a Video CD.
   If you want standard Video CDs, TMPGEnc is free. If you want Super VideoCDs, that use MPEG2, you will need to buy the full TMPEGEnc software.

   The same is true if you have a DVD burner and want to convert the Divx to a true DVD with TMPGEnc

   yes, but you need do dawnload "nero smart burner", whith this pragram you can burn cd, mp3, dvd….

   Nero (vers 6 & 7) will convert DivX files and allow you to burn standard video DVD’s. Several manufacturers of DVD players (ex. Philips) produce players that will directly play DivX files. For these players simply burn a data DVD containing the DivX files.
