I don’t like incentives based on individual statistics. I think it encourages selfishness. Bonuses for awards like the Cy Young and MVP are OK to me because they are usually awarded based on achieving team goals. Players from bad teams rarely win them.

All that does is bring more turmoil into the clubhouse as that might tend to bring about some sort of animosity from other players due to the fact that he is the highest paid player in the game. It’s kind of ridiculous if you ask me. I honestly don’t understand or know why anybody would need to have a contract that pays them about a little more then a 1/4 of a billion dollars over the length of the contract. And he didn’t just do that once but he did it twice. He’s obviously trying to prove some sort of point although his ego has a huge part to do with it as well and I don’t even want to hear anybody try to defend the guy at all.

get real, when you are making 25 plus million a year for 17 straight years, the incentive money is just chump change.

He’s definatly greedy. I don’t believe, however, that your idea would be a problem. Unless it was really late in the contract.
