If you own a copy, then you can do anything you want to with it. If you have vinyl, you can make copy it so you can burn it on a CD or put it on a MP3 player. All perfectly legal. You CAN'T make a copy of it for a friend, sell a copy, or share it out on the internet. Remember, that's my humble opinion. Others will surely disagree that the law is more strigent and other will say it isn't that strigent. But if you downloaded it and did not create the back up from your original product- I'm not sure. But if you want to get technical there may be a few issues. But, there is various software you can download that will allow you to record the music from your record player (if you have a stereo setup w/ your record player) to the computer and then convert to mp3.
