I have a vintage record player and it plays normal-slow-normal-slow, it sounds as if the record id warped?
My vintage record player sounds funny, like it is warped. It plays normal-slow-normal-slow. If I can find someone to repair it will it be expensive? and can it even be repaired? I really miss listening to my old records.
It needs lubrication. Whenever an old player is unused for years, it does just what you described. Take it apart only enough to apply some light machine oil (like sewing machine oil) to the main shaft of the electric motor. (Be careful to have it unplugged while you do all this.) As you oil it, hand rotate it to help the oil penetrate. Don’t use the wrong kind of oil, one too thick, or you’ll make it worse.
ive seen record players on line.. google around … and also. warped records used to be fixed by placing the record in the jacket between two heavy books or heavy objects and leaving it there for a few weeks. it flattens them out. I have a ton of vinyl. from 1968 to when they stopped producing them in the 1990s.. interested? wanna buy?
