Does your DVR have an RF output jack (a coaxial F-connector, like your TV set's antenna input)? Mine does, and it ouputs analog channel 3 or 4, like a simple converter box. You can connect that jack to your VCR's antenna jack, set the VCR permanently to channel 3 (or 4), and record anything that the DVR sees. You just need to set your DVR to the desired channel and leave it there, and set up your VCR for the desired time to record.

You can verify that this works by connecting an analog TV to the output of your VCR while it is connected to your DVR as above. The VCR should be off (antenna pass thru mode). Set the TV to channel 3 (or 4), and look for a picture. If it's good on your TV, it will be good in the VCR when the timer turns it on.
