These are VIdeo files and usually you store them in a writable DVD, not a CD.

.avi is actually a very common file container for MPEG-4 files, so it should work just fine.

So: a) Make sure you specify the correct Codec (MPEG-4, part 2, or Divx)
If CDs don't work try to copy your files on a DVD.</description>
