How to record mp4 files to play on Home theater System? Mine should play MPEG4 filess but does not recognize
My Home theater system, Philips make claims, it can play MPEG4 files (Simple Profile, Advanced Simple Profile) as well as DivX discs ( 3.11, 4.x, 5.x). However when I copy these files to CD the player does not recognize any file. When I use any of the recorders like Nero or Roxi they try to convert the mp4 files into avi format which makes the size unwieldy and it is actually a conventional VCD. How to record the mp4 or DivX files on cd which the player can recognize?
There are two versions of MPEG-4
MPEG-4, part 2 (Divix, xvid, etc)
MPEG-4, part 10 (used by Itunes)
Your player can play the first type only. However, many .mp4 files are of the second type… (Correct file format, but incorrect codec)
These are VIdeo files and usually you store them in a writable DVD, not a CD.
.avi is actually a very common file container for MPEG-4 files, so it should work just fine.
So: a) Make sure you specify the correct Codec (MPEG-4, part 2, or Divx)
If CDs don’t work try to copy your files on a DVD.
