How does a record player play music without power?
I found an old portable record player, put a disk on there and turned the disk with my hand manually. Music started coming out. How?
It plugs into the wall. But don't the speakers at least need power? There isn't a battery in there..
Actually I don't think it's coming from the speaker. It actually seems to be coming from the needle.
But it's just a tiny needle. How can it act as a relatively loud speaker while also reading the grooves in the disk?
Now I'd taken a push pin and used that as a needle. same effect. That's really strange!
when you spin the record the needle picks up the vibrations from the grooves in the record and transmits them as sound, its purely mechanical
thats really cool ha i wanna kno that myself now
battery?
its wound up. it generates electricity too lazy to explain how
Was it battery powered or wind up?
Or was it something more sinister.
If there was no reason for it to work I would burn it as soon as I could.
