How do I use a dvd player to record Wii gameplay?

   To record gameplay from your Wii or any other home console, you just have to connect your game system to our preferred video recorder, be it VCR, DVD-Recorder or DVR. You can use a TV tuner with your PC to use it as a homemade DVR.

   To get the video to your computer…

   For VCR’s, pick up a USB VCR (like one listed at http://www.amazon.com/ION-Audio-Video-Computer-Converter/dp/B0017PJ5FI )

   For DVD, place the DVD in your computer’s DVD-ROM drive & use your preferred video ripper (VLC can do this) to convert the DVD video into a digital file.

   For DVR’s, please refer to your manual for transfer options or transfer to a DVD first.

   For a quick method of recording, you can pick up a TV Tuner. Since you have a laptop, you’ll want to use a USB TV Tuner ( Like Hauppauge’s WinTV-HVR-950Q for $100 — http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hvr950q.html ) which will allow you to record the video directly to your computer’s Hard Drive to make it a LOT easier for you to upload to YouTube.

   burn the game, if it don’t work it’s because the wii isnt compatable

   To capture the video, you will either need to run the Wii through a video capture card or USB device to record it onto your laptop. Another way would be with a media recorder or a digital camcorder. Whilst the video capture card is probably one of the cheapest options, it has limited usability. The media recorder can be pricy but is useful for recording and watching TV as well as playing other media files on your TV. The digital camcorder is probably the most expensive but allows you to record other things (like family parties, etc) as well.
