there is a free recorder in windows. If you can use the tape deck, you can use the recorder... its got the same buttons. To convert the sound file, first record the whole thing, with the recorder window still open click on files, properties, and then click the "convert now" button.

to get to the sound recorder:
1. click start
2. go to all programs
3. go to accessories
4. go to entertainment
5. click sound recorder.

have fun
