ebay customer going to the police?
i sold an antique radio on ebay for £330 and i sent it with the dhl delivery service, when the bloke recieved it it was all broken n demands his money back but i dont want to give him his money back lol i aint done nothing wrong he thinks i broke it and sent it to him which is complete rubbish now he says his going to the police and i want to no what will happen? what will the police do and what can they do? xx
yeah but i did wrap it properly n there is no damage to the box so i think he dropped it or something n now tryin 2 get money for it ! it is insured and im tryin 2 contact them at the mo im just waitin for them! i think its unfair that i sold it n now he breaks it n wnts all his money back
The police will say "we can’t help, go to court."
If it was insured, file the claim with DHL.
It is up to you to ensure it arrives in good condition. Sorry, I think you lose. Pay him and wrap next item better.
The package should have been insured. I you did not insure it, you are liable for the damage. I doubt the police will do anything, but your ebay rating will go to pot.
Didn’t you insure it?You should have and if you did,you need to contact DHL for the insurance payout,then refund the guys money.I would be upset too,if I paid for something that came smashed.
well did u take a picture of it? if you have a pic of it before you sent it that proves you had it not broken, it doesn’t prove you *sent* it in one piece but there is no reason to think that you would just break it and send it to them. I think it is the mail’s problem he should take it up with them. But that’s why you’re supposed to get insurance on anything you send thru mail. you should have got insurance because generally (at least in america) the seller is the one responsible for making sure the customer gets his item in one piece.
Next time, increase the shipping cost on the auction to include insurance. That way, if it does arrive broken, the delivery company will have to replace it, or pay back the money.
As far as paying him back, neither you nor he requested insurance. Personally, I would pay back half, telling him exactly what happened. If he wants the rest, he should seek damages from the shipping company.

Civil problem, not criminal. Unless you have been ripping people off. Then the police could be the least of your worries.
