Could i use a guitar amp for my record player?
i brought out my dads old record player and i am wondering if i could use a guitar amp for it instead of buying an amp from the store?

Could you? Sure. Most record players need a preamp between them and the amplifier. Let’s say you had one and hooked it up to a guitar amp. It would work, but guitar amps are made for guitars, and are generally designed to produce distortion along with a louder signal. Plus the amp doesn’t generally have a flat frequency response over the same range that an amplifier designed for music playback does. So it would work OK, but might not sound that great.
You can use almost any amp, but you need a phono preamp to do so. Some amps have one built in and inputs labeled as phono or turntable. If there’s no input labeled as phono or turntable then you’ll need a preamp.
