It was Barbara Mandrell's Live album. But the first one I ever purchased with my own money was Dolly Parton's 9 to 5.

:-)

Edit: zil28, where were you when I was getting beat up for being country when country wasn't cool?? LOL... Good choice! :-)

Dusti, my parent bought that one too, and I loved that one & Queen of the Silver Dollar. (I think I wanted to be a barfly when I grew up... LOL)

Emmy Lou Harris, I don't know the album name or year it came out, I am sure my parents bought it when I was a kid, but my favorite song I made them play over and over and over was Two More Bottles of Wine. I guess I loved that song until I heard Islands in the Stream, that was my favorite song for years.

My first, I think, was either the Statler Bros or Jim Reeves. Jim Reeves had a beautifully smooth voice. The Statler Bros had such perfect harmony that I listened to them for hours. Don't remember the names of these albums, tho. One song the Statlers sang that was just so out of the norm was called "Saturday Morning Radio Show." If you get a chance, look it up.

And, yes, there is the incomparable Marty Robbins. You have good taste!
