Antique Record Players Archives

I have an old fisher turntable/ cassete player, im guessing from the late 70's, and i dont know how to connect it to speakers, its only outputs are a speaker R and L and and auxilery R and L i have a reciever with a phono input and a pair of speakers that use speaker wire, can anyone tell me how to hook this thing up? 10 points to the best answer

Something simple, easy to use. Maybe noise reduction & scratch removal. I have a PC with Windows7. I tried Xi tel but it would not download correctly during installation.

I am starting to feel a little frustrated. I have downloaded every application possible I feel and things still aren't working after wasting 3 DVDs. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong???

I have a downloaded movie. I was told I need to use Toaster to burn this to a DVD. Here are my toaster steps:

I put the Blank DVD-RW 4.7 GB with 2hrs in and drag the downloaded movie to its destination. I don't have a menu and I do automatic play when inserted. Then I hit the big red record button. It took like 45 mins to download this process another 20 to finish it. I take it out and put it in my DVD player at home and it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? I have played burnt DVDs in this DVD player before.

Second problem:

I was trying to make a copy of a DVD. I was told I needed Handbrake for this. I have downloaded handbrake this still is working. Can someone please help me out??

Please if you're able give me step by step instructions on how to get this stuff working because I feel like I have tried everything and I don't want to keep wasting these DVDs.

Thanks in advance!
I have the video two different ways. I have it as an AVI and MGP. What do I use to convert it?? Once I have that program what are the steps I need to do?

Do I need to save it as something different? I have a program that will let me save it as a AVI file, but i'm not familiar with that. Is there a free downloadable software out there that I can use? I have burned music from media player lots of time, but never a dvd. Thanks!

Hi, can anyone recommend me a good record player for around 100 bucks? The one i use right now is more of a novelty and im looking for an upgrade. It needs to have a 33, 45, and 78 speed, and preferably a headphone jack. Thanks.

I have a Go Video VHS-DVD combo player that will record VHS tapes to DVD. But the problem is that the DVD will only play on the Go Video player. I was wondering if I need a special kind of recordable disc (because I've heard Sony is kinda fussy). Or does the speed matter (HQ, SP, LP)? Please, any help would be appreciated.

How good of a coach do you think he is? I think he's done one hell of a job with the Jaguars. Tom Coughlin left this team when it was at its lowest point. After three consecutive 6-10 seasons Coughlin was out.

Del Rio came in with his hands full, and the team finished 5-11. That was Del Rios only losing season with the Jaguars. as he lead them to a 9-7, 12-4, 8-8, and last yaer with an 11-5 record.

This overall head coach record with the jaguars is 45-35 with only one losing season, two playoff apperances, and one playoff victory.

What do you guys think of former player turned coach, Jack Del-Rio?

I have one of those Crosley record player that does not have a line out (but for some reason has a line in....). Since the speakers on this thing are pretty weak, I want to connect them to my surround sound system (which I'm using as a 2 channel system right now). The receiver has multiple inputs in the form of RCA jacks. So I was thinking of 2 options:

1. I can connect the speaker wires in the Crosley to a set of RCA output jacks (+/- wires) and then just use an RCA connector between the Crosley and the receiver.. doing this, I'm concerned about feeding the speaker level input to a line-level input (on the receiver)... will this kill my receiver or speakers?? (receiver/speakers ~100 watt/channel @ 8 ohms).

2. I can catch the Crosley signal before it goes to its internal amp and then to the speakers and attach the RCA at that point... problem here is, I have no idea where that amp is.. there is a drum on the volume control that has wires going out of it in the form of 2 + wires and 2 - wires (on the circuit board where they connect it says R, L, G (ground), R, L, SW)... so I'm thinking those wires are already the converted signal (amplified)... is the drum on the connected to the volume control the amp?? I don't see anything else that could be... everything else is circuit boards..

let me know if you can provide any info.. the receiver is a Sony 100 wpc 8ohm, speakers are 125 watt/8ohm and the record player is a Crosley CR-66

Thanks!

I've been wanting to get a record player for a while now and preferably a vintage one. I'm not interested in top of the range models or anything like that, I just want something I can play vinyls on which moderately good sound. The thing is I know NOTHING about them. Can someone tell me the basics on record players? like what parts are needed to play a vinyl etc and maybe even some good brands? thanks

i need to buy a record player that can hook up to my computer and my stereo system, where could i buy one using paypal

I'm so sick of Dirk Nowitzki not getting the credit he deserves. People compare him to young players who turn the ball over too much, miss tons of games, never took their team to the finals and don't impact the game anywhere near the way that Dirk does.
Dirk would have a ring if he had his current team back in the 2006 NBA Finals, come on. Miami's strongest positions were Dallas' weakest positions. Wade at shooting guard was too much for their guards, and O’Neal at center was too much for Dampier. Even with all those mismatches the Mavs lost 3 games by a total of 6 points. Brendan Haywood will end up being the best center in Mavericks history.

Kobe Bryant had Shaquille O’Neal putting up 29 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game( MVP in all 3 championships). Dwyane Wade had O’Neal putting up 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game. Dirk had Dampier putting up a stellar 5 points 7rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.

Please tell me the reliable players that the Mavs have had besides Dirk? I don't mean the ones who live off of wide open jump shots from Dirk screens and double teams no, I'm talking about the ones who can drive the ball and create their own shot like Tony Parker or Manu Ginobili. I can think of only Steve Nash (4 healthy seasons) and Josh Howard(3 almost healthy seasons)they never got to play together since Nash was traded. Again no shooting guard or center.
Now, name all the teams who have won a championship with no true shooting guard or center that averages nowhere near a double double. Then I want you to tell me who else has lead a team mostly filled with underachievers to the finals and to the playoffs 10 out of 12 (all 50+ wins)seasons with less than what Dirk has had to work with?
When Shaq played for the Lakers he was the best player in the NBA but, then he left thanks to Kobe and his giant ego.
Then, when Shaq went to Miami what did he do? He won Wade a ring to and what did Kobe do? He didn't even make the playoffs the next season, and he still had Caron Butler, and Lamar Odom. Which is more help than Dirk has ever had until the Mavs trade. The Lakers must have thought a lot of Dirk to offer Dallas Shaq for him
Kobe career playoff stats 25ppg 5.0rpg 4.7apg 1.4spg 0.7bpg FG 44.7% FT 81% 2.9 TO's

Dirk career playoff stats 25.5ppg 11rpg 2.6apg 1.2spg 1.0bpg FG 45.4% FT 88% 2.1 TO's

Dirk has only missed 29 games in 11 seasons—that’s only 2.4 per season!
LeBron James has missed 22 games in 7 seasons -3.1 per season

Kobe Bryant has missed 76 games in 11 seasons.(adj.for NBA lockout)

Dwyane Wade has missed 102 games in 7 seasons.

Carmelo Anthony has missed 60 games in 7 seasons.

Talent means nothing if it’s not on the court helping your team win. While the above players are on the sidelines watching the game, Dirk is doing work.
Dirk is 2nd behind only LeBron in most 4th quarter points
Since 05-06, Nowitzki owns the most game-winners (put team ahead for good in final 2 seconds) of any player in the NBA.

Also,Dirk doesn't care about stats as much as he does winning which explains why his post-season stats are higher than his regular season stats.

He knows that he won't have much help in the post season. So on nights against teams with losing records where some players are trying to pad their stats Dirk just takes it easy and lets his teammates gain confidence since with him just being on the floor draws so much attention. Now,if they fall behind he will be there to save the day.

Since Dirk entered the starting lineup, the Mavericks have made the playoffs 10 out of 11 seasons. Dirk gets double and triple-teamed in the playoffs because teams know nobody else will step up for the Mavericks, yet he still puts up big numbers. Dirk is a nightmare matchup for opposing teams, averaging 25.5 points and 11 rebounds in 97 career playoff games! Now try to tell me that Dirk isn't CLUTCH.

The only other players to average at least 25 points and 10 rebounds for a playoff career are Bob Pettit, Hakeem Olajuwon, Elgin Baylor, and Shaquille O'Neal.

Dirk is one of the most consistent and humble players in the game. Dirk's career field goal percentage (47.3 percent) and free throw percentage (87.7 percent) are easily better than Kobe’s career numbers (45.5 percent and 83.9 percent, respectively).

I know some will say Dirk hasn't won a championship but I always thought that championships determine how good a TEAM is and not how good an individual player is.

I'm trying to figure out how to record a JW player video stream. Does anyone know of something free I can use?

I'm also trying to record a silverlight stream.
It put in the wrong category. It was supposed to be under Other - Computers.

I just bought a new samsung blue ray play. it does not record, but once in a while I like to record a program on a disk. I don't care if it's recorded in blue ray, just that it's recorded. It does have a usb on the front of it! is there something that I can hook up to it so every once in a while I can record a program from the tv.
Yes, I know that I can't record on just a player. I guess my question is what is the best thing to use or hook up to it so I can get the recording feature? do the dvd burners conect with a usb?

I was in walmart looking at dvd recorders/vhs machines and have been for a while,i was thinking since VCR's are going out that using a DVD recorder was the new thing, but i was told that the dvd recorder/vhs machines don't have a tuner in them and cannot record off tv.I could get sat tv ie dish/direct tv,but i used to have direct tv but seldom watched it,so why get sat tv just to use a DVR to record a few local tv programs that i like to watch.so my question is can i use the audio in/out to my tv in out<digital HD tv>since i have a tuner in the tv and use the dvd recorder part of the combo to record my local tv shows to watch later.any help would be appreciated.

I recently purchased a used record player off craigslist and it's in very good condition but as I was moving it into my apartment, the cartridge head shattered and the needle was lost. I would like to buy a new cartridge head off of amazon or ebay, but am not sure exactly what type of cartridge I need. The turntable is a Zenith and the model number on the back is 4170, but I'm not sure about the year. Does anyone know what cartridge I need and where I can find it?

The venue we have booked had water damage, the problem is fixed, but it looks NOTHING like it did on the inside when we signed our contract...it had crown molding, hardwood floors, tall celings...now it has some fake wood floor, plain white walls, tall celings with fans now...(pretty ceiling fans and chandelier now but still...)

in the contract it states any venue changes can be made with knowledge to the couples/party...well they called us to tell us the water damage would be fixed...but that was it? They didnt tell us they were changing the look and mondernizing it, i wanted old vintage, my theme is old birds, books, hair pins, record players, etc.

Im sad, can I not be mad? Do they owe me anything? Its 3 weeks away so I can't change it :(

I have recently inherited a bunch of the small records and large records. I want to buy a record player for them but I am no expert on phonographs and record players so I need help. The record brands I own are Columbia, Swan, cadence, specialty, apple, MGM, Capitol, Jamie, epic, RCA, bell, Decca, kapp, dore, mercury, gamble, abc records, barnaby, threshold, and many others. They all have the same look and the hole is the same size. Is there a record player I could get that plays both the larger records and smaller ones?

I'm inhearting an old german record that may not play, does anyone know what I should do to get up and running again. It's 45 years old, my grandparents have it since they where married and since I'm a huge history bugg I get along with the German records they had along with the ones I collected from when I was stationed there.

I have anew tv and an old vcr/dvd player

Okay, so i have a record player that is probably from the late 70s early 80s. I bought it about 4 years ago and it worked great then. I stopped using it for a few years and i recently bought a bunch of vinyls and now when it plays some times the sound is distorted in one speaker and sometimes in the other. I originally thought it was the speakers but its isn't because sometimes when i move it slightly they will both work fine. So i have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it.

Can I use my cell phone or MP3 player to record a presentation

Before I post this question, I want to make one thing clear: this is just for fun! Please don't take this too seriously, I'm not trying to say that everyone fits into some sort of label. I just want to get your opinion. Okay.

I'm 15 years old, 5'5 with dark brown hair, thick bangs, blue eyes, and pale skin. I kind of look like that Zooey Deschanel girl.

I love to watch Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Monk, and Family Guy.

My favorite music includes The Beatles, The Smiths, Morrisey, Simon and Garfunkel, the Arctic Monkeys, and She&Him. However, I'm not one of those teenagers who think that because they listen to old music, they are automatically respected and cool. I just enjoy that kind of music.

I love to paint, I love to wear/make vintage dresses, I'm a strict vegan and I am also agnostic. My dream is to travel the world and take pictures of foreign lands and experience exciting things. I also LOVE my record player! :)

I love to read and I love intellectual conversations, but I also love conversations about really shallow things like clothes and hair :P I am a huge dreamer, I love to dance in the rain, and I try not to "fit in" I'm just myself. I love my friends. And I don't think I really fit many stereotypes, but if you HAD to pin one on me, what would it be? Thanks!
