Find large loop fabric (like rug that's a huge scale) in a bold color like orange, purple, turquoise, etc. Alternatively, you can use shag fabric. Wrap the ottoman. Use it for extra seating - make two if you have the room. Obtain a shag rug that matches a color in something you love - a 60's poster, the lava lamp, your other lamp, a blanket, etc. Build from there. Put up framed photos of 60's era artists/musicians (print out a picture from the internet on photo paper, and put it in a cheap frame - buy several of these cheap matching frames). Hang the photos in a group on one wall. Wall color should probably be neutral, but fabrics should not. 60's fabrics were bold & had a lot of texture. Drapes can be a brown/orange/green or whatever paisley or flower pattern. Research 60's fabrics to see examples... Good luck. You should get a lot of Beatles stuff, some Rolling Stones stuff, peace signs, a beanbag, and such. Like I said before, use A LOT of color.
