Mine was Charlie Rich's Behind Closed Doors album. I was born in '69, and that album came out in '73, so I had to be four years old. It was an orange 8-track my parents bought and I comandeered. Wore it out. Got another one that was brown. Still have it. I later bought a vinyl copy during my early record collecting travels, and now I have it on CD. To this day, it's always out on top of the player.
Oh, and my first 45 was Marty Robbins, "Some Memories Won't Die." I was 14 when it came out and I bought it. Some 3,000 45s have amassed around that one since then!
Ok, I have a Sony Handycam that records on DVD-R and RWs. They are the smaller kind tho obvsiouly. My Handycam doenst have a USB connection so I cant do it through that. The only way I think is to play them throught the dvd player on my computer. But it won't let me burn the dvd on to my computer but i know i have a dvd burner. What can I do?
I have IDT HD sound and I am making videos with hypercam 2. I realize that I can record my voice as I make the video, but it would be a lot more convenient to me if I could record sound separately. Is there any way to record sound on movie maker using the mic I have, or record it on windows media player or something that I can import to movie maker? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm looking for a record player that plays 45's and 33's. It must have a headphone jack. I would like it to be portable as well and have built in speakers. What would you recommend? I want good sound and good quality as well. Thank you!
i bought a 100K volume control today from radio shack. I'm hoping to use it as a dimer switch for antique fan. I don't want to burn up the volume control and waist 4$. The ratings are Rated power .05 watts. Max attenuation 100dB min.100k ohms 20% tolerance. By looking at the .05 watts i would say this is too small for a fan. The fan doesn't say on it what the wattage or amps are. I'm sure it had some sort of sticker or something when it was new but no telling when that was. haha. anyways thanks all!
Thats what i was thinking when i read .05 watts. haha. wouldn't a potentiometer with a higher watt rating work? maybe even one that is rated a bit higher? I have no idea how many watts my fan consumes. Does anyone have a ballpark estimate of the wattage consumption? It is one of those old fans with the brass blades and the metal cage over it. Thanks!
I have one of those VCR/DVD players...today I recorded a tv program to a DVD-R and dubbed a VHS to a DVD....after I was done, I made sure both played in the DVD part of the player....which they did. I am mailing these to my husband who is overseas...so I decided to try quick and see if they would play in the portable dvd player because he will be watching them on one...and they didn't work! What is the problem and is there a way to fix it? Thank you for your help!
The movie was copied from a DVD and saved in my laptop. I want to record it on a DVD so that I can watch it using my DVD player and TV. How to do it? Do I need any special software? In what format do i do it so that it becomes playable in DVD player?
I recently aquired a 1934 Westinghouse model WR-29 radio. it had been sitting in a basement for quite a long while before i got to it. the first thing i did when i got it home was to plug it in and turn it on, after it heated up it began to smoke slightly, so i turned it off and left it. upon trying to think of what could be the matter, i realized that i hadn't bothered to clean all of the dust and debris off of the chassis, could the possible cause be the heat from the tubes burning dust and dirt off? if not what else? what ought i to look for when inspecting the chassis?
I have a phonograph turntable with an RCA output and I want to connect it to my surround sound system which has RCA inputs. The phonograph doesn't have a volume adjust and when I turn my surround sound up all the way, I can barely hear my records.
I used to have the phonograph connected to a television with RCA inputs. The television had an 1/8th in. stereo jack for plugging in headphones. Using an 1/8th in. to RCA cable, I could plug the television into the surround sound and with the television volume at 100% I could adjust the volume on the surround sound and get decent audio that way. The television is now broken.
I tried to connect the phonograph to a VCR via RCA and then connect the VCR to the surround sound system via RCA but adjusting the volume on the VCR didn't affect the final output volume at all leading me to think that the VCR is just redirecting the signal and not amplifying it.
Is there any type of device I can buy that will help me get decent volume from the phonograph through my surround sound? Preferably a cheap and small one-line-in one-line-out amplifier with RCA in and out. Please please please please help me find something to solve this problem.
I want to start on Turntablism (Scratch DJing), like the kinda stuff done by Sid (Slipknot) or ST1TCH (Mushroomhead).
So my question is, which is better, CD players with Jog Wheels or Vinyl Turntables?
I already have a bunch of CDs, but if vinyl is easier to work with/better quality I'd get some records.
The main kits I'm looking at are these:

I'm looking for a record player (probably -0) price range just to play records with good sound quality and a classy look, I was looking at the Sony PS LX300USB - turntable and the ION IPTUSB Portable Turntable, any suggestions? Im new at this and don't care too much if they convert into mp3's or not, thanks!
Hey I'm looking for my first turntable, I don't know the name of the kind that I want so I'll try and describe it my grandmother had one when I was little I would guess that it was made in the 70s it had like a plastic shell that went around it, it almost looked like a square suitcase
My guess it was a pretty cheap and common model when it was made
Again I have no idea the model or brand so I don't know what to look for
I want to record tv shows that are on OnDemand with a DVD player on a R-DVD so I can send it to a pc. I have a Sony Bravia TV and a I have a few different DVD players I could use, however one doesn't have the record button on the player or remote.
Most in August, etc. for all the months.
Looking for player records, but if someone is so inclined, you can list team records for each.
By divine providence (or something of the like), I recently received a massive record collection, in fairly good condition. I'm intending to spend a good portion of my years to come cataloging and thoroughly enjoying the records. I'm looking for a record player that will satisfy my audiophiliac needs and preserve the good condition of the records. I have 33 1/2's, 45's and 78's. Obviously, I'm making an investment in a worthy turntable that will ride out the journey with me. That being said, I'm looking for something in a comfortable price range. A mp3 converter would be great, but most of the ones I've seen don't include 78's. Any suggestions?
I'm working in a little shop in St Michael's Hill, in Bristol. It's a second hand shop, filled with things we bought for a fiver and are selling for a tenner. There's a large, antique grandfather clock ticking on the other side of the room, and a table in the centre with a huge amount of books and old toys and nicknacks and such. I'm sitting at an ancient computer from 1997 on the counter. The cash register has about ninety quid in it. The radio, which is this old thing from the 60s, is playing some golden oldies on it. The chair is a bit squeaky. Lunch break is in about half an hour... Not that this isn't a bad job, but it is slightly boring. In the back room there's an alarmingly large amount of old sandwiches that never got eaten and thrown away, and are liable to get up and crawl off rather soon. Actually, I might go and clean them up...
Done. I managed to fill an entire bin bag with the things. Some of them had nasty blue bits, it wan't very nice.
Some French tourists just popped in, spoke some French, and went away again. That tends to happen quite a lot. I wish I could speak French properly. C'est un tres intressant pomplesmousse d'manger le car? See, I haven't got a clue what I just said. The tourists took a couple of postcards, though, and I got eighty pence off of them.
Well... Anyone out there got any ideas on how to spruce the place up a bit?
I have an old record and 8 track player possibly made in the 1970's. I had plans to keep it, but it's a huge, heavy piece of furniture that takes up too much room in my house. I'm curious as to what it's worth. It's in pretty good condition, though it could use a sanding and refinishing. The 8 track player and record player worked the last time I heard them played, but that was about 10 years ago. It's a Zenith-Allegro, model # HR921P, Chassis 6WHR55, 120V 60Hz .63 AMPS. It's solid wood, except for the front, which I believe is plastic. Does anyone know what it's worth or how I can find out?
