Mine : I miss my ETCH-A-SKETCH and my portable record player that could play all 4 speeds of records!

Typically, it contains street dancing or break dancing, hip hop music or rapping, house or techno music, turntablism, or other activities developed in inner-cities and made popular through commercialization. Hence names for cultural artifacts like urban music could be seen as a new term.
Metrosexualism, goth, emo, gangster...I really don't think they are great at all.

Personally I am really not a fan of urban cultures.
wanting to be retro? i basically like anything and everything from the mid 50's to the early 90's. when i get a car, i wanna get something like a 60's beetle. i wanna get a 70's wardrobe and i wanna change my hair. i like retro fashion. i love elvis music. i love back to the future and most 80's films. i've forbidden myself from using my ipod and computer for a period of time until now of course. i watched my television very limitly. i read the news every single morning. i bought an antique radio which was my only entertainment along with the newspaper. it's just too bad that i was born in '93.
what other things can i do?
Okay, so we have DVD-R recordable DVDs (120 min/4.7 GB-Sony AccuCore) They're version 1.3/1x-16x. Can I use these DVDs to record videos from the Net and then play them on a TV through a DVD player? If so, how?
Here are a few of mine:
Pretending to be a disc jockey with my Fisher Price record player and a bunch of 45's.
Roller skating in my basement with my hair in long braids.
Swinging on my tire swing and feeling the wind and swooping high and low, while my mom kept calling me in for dinner.
Saturday morning cartoons and a box of Lucky Charms.
ok so i love vintage things so i was like why not ask for a record player (or turntable) for christmas but i don't know if i would ever use it do they still make vinyl and if so do they put music from that last couple of years on it like ( this is just an example I do not expect to find this) do they make a vinyl record with miley cryus or taylor swift but if you do know then could you tell me the names of some bands or singers that have vinyl records
I'm 27 and for the last 10 years or so I've been interested in purchasing a record player, I used to mess around with my Dad's growing up but that eventually broke over the years. I have alot of his and my mom's records from the 60's and 70's that I'd love to be able to listen to again, along with some of my own that I'm collecting.
I don't want to spend too much money, maybe 300.00 at the most. I don't have much experience in this audio field so I'm not even sure where to start, I know I had a turntable, a receiver and some speakers back then, not sure if that's still the same setup. Any help would be welcome. Thanks!
Hi everyone! I have just purchased an old wards airline console radio model 62-1100. I believe it was built in 1938. The brand seems to be well known but i am finding little to no info about my particular model online. anyways, the radio itself fires up but the speaker wires were cut and are hanging around in back of the speaker. I noticed i am missing the pronged speaker wire plug that fits into the chassis speaker socket. Although i don't have the schematics on the radio, I would really like to test the speaker to see if the radio has some life left in it. The problem is though, is that i have 4 speaker wires from the speaker and 5 holes in the chassis socket to choose from. Does anyone know which wires go to which hole? Is it possible for me to test this radio? Any information is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Thank you very much! This helps out a lot! To answer your question, the speaker has a large wrapped coil on the back of it. I believe it is a permanent magnet. I do have a volt/ohm meter to safely check lines. 300 volts sounds pretty scary and I don't want to zapped anytime soon. Upon cleaning up the radio a bit more though unfortunately I seem to be missing one of the audio output tubes. do you think i'll still be able to hear something from the speaker even if its missing? Thank you again.
Thanks! that will help out a ton if i can get a hold of all the schematics. Although the ones you linked to me are really similar and are helpful. Oh I was also fortunate to find that the missing tube was taken out and wobbling around between the cabinet and the chassis, so I am not missing any parts anymore! Oh and thanks for the contact info. I'll let you know if i have any more questions. Thanks again, especially for your time and research.
I would like to experiment with turntablism, and I have no shortage of crappy old record players around here. How were they originally modified?
I'm interested in getting a mp3/portable media center. I currently have a samsung yh-999 but it's too big and too difficult to get videos on it. (Windows media player takes too long to convert). I was looking to get a new unit, does anybody have any suggestions other than an Ipod? I like the way you can record off TV from the archos series, but I'm also looking for something that has decent content for me to download off the interenet. Kind of like what Itunes does for the ipod. Any suggestions?
It's like throwing away your cellphone and getting a dial telephone with a cord that goes to the wall.
It's like bringing back the good ol' black and white TV with rabbit ears antenna, cooking up some "Jiffy Pop" on the stove top, and sitting down to watch "I Love Lucy" and "The Honeymooners".
It's like going out and buying an Oldsmobile Roadmaster with no seat belts and a 400 cubic inch engine and snazzy tail fins then driving to the gas station and waiting for the three guys that work there to wash your windows, check your oil and fill 'er up.
The internet? Let's get rid of it and do it the old fasion way (send letters and go to the library)!
Get out those Elvis 45's and that record player and let's bring back the twist!
If McCain gets elected does that mean that Jack Benny and Bob Hope and Johnny Carson will come back too?
Will people start naming their kids "Biff" and "Cookie" again?
Will the temperature of the Earth go back to what is was in 1960 also?
Just bought an antique radio that cost 7 when it was built in 1929....anyone know what that would be in today's dollars????
I want to use my laptop as a cd recorder to record music as I play it on my guitar.
and when I say DJ my meaning is with whomever studies and is involved in the arts of Turntablism...
I'm not too savy when it comes to turntables, but I'd like to get one that doesn't need seperate speakers. I'd like one that has them built in, and I don't want any modern players with it (cd/ipod) just a plain ole record player. Where would be the best place to find one, antique stores, ebay, craigslist, and what do I search/ask for?
wow i just realized it was in cricket... yea i thought i clicked music... hmmmm... sorry guys
How do you connect a Sony portable CD player to your laptop so you can>play a CD on Walkman while it is connected to laptop>and use the laptop CD burner to "record" what is playing from the Walkman?
I have this beautiful antique that my grandmother purchased and I cant even find a pic of it on any website I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. It has a radio and a record player in a beautiful cabinet Any help would be appreciated
record player to keep the record from skipping? This would be 45's and 33 1/2 LPs.
I have a record player. It's an Audio Technica and it's new not vintage. What do I need to be able to listen to records on it? I'm guessing speakers and a something to amplify a sound.
If I'm going to goodwill to find a receiver what ports do I need to make sure it has on the back? And speakers?
And do I have to record it to a dvd or can it go to my laptop?
Or is there any other way to record Wii gameplay?
In the end I want to put a walkthrough up on youtube.
How about letting us use our own personally designed avatars, instead of the clunky stuff Yahoo has? Nothing here fits with me, either "looks" or hobby interest. I would like either a record or antique radio avatar. I have several jpgs to pick from
Okay well to start off, and I don't know if this is related or anything, but my dad bought an antique shelf with an antique record player (really old one, the kind that played cylinder records, rather than disc records). I just state that because I hear old items can cause a haunting wherever they are. Well not alot has happened at all really. So most of you will probably think I'm just wasting time, but for one, I walked into the bathroom and noticed the roll of toilet paper was sitting on the floor, in front of the door, when I last left it on the shelf. Then just now, my dogs (which are older puppies, not quite adult) were sleeping on the couch and out of nowhere, they both jump up, barking like crazy, running into the next room and also making whimpering noises like crazy, as if someone hurt them or they were really scared. I had to calm them down. What do you think?
And now one of them keeps going into the kitchen and barking at nothing.
I'm not looking for any multi-thousand dollar turntables or DJ equipment...I just want to play all these old records that my parents have in boxes.
Are there still decent new ones you can buy?
Or should I look for a used one?
Please only answer if you are an audiophile or you actually know!
Answers telling me to 'go get an ipod' are not appreciated!
I have an old Sears Electronics record player with casseste, radio, and eight track. I don't know what year, but I'm guessing it's pretty old, I got it at Goodwill.
Everything plays fine, its just that it won't let me change speeds. The 33's play normal, but when I put in a 45 record and switch it to 45 speed, it dosen't do anything. The speed stays the same, and plays in slow motion.
By the way, its not run on a belt, its on a 1-drive idler (tire).
Ryan Braun recently hit his 25th home run in his 82nd career game. That is a faster pace than Albert Pujols and Ryan Howard. I know Mark McGwire did it in 77 games. Is that the record? Ted Williams hit is 24th in his 76th game but I don't have a game log to see when he hit his 25th. Is there any other player that might have hit 25 in less than 82 games?
