I've got a record player that was handed down to me from my dad. It's really old, I've had it for around four years, and haven't replaced the needle yet. It's beginning to wear down, I've tried the penny trick, but I'd like to get a new needle some time soon. I'm having a lot of trouble taking the needle off. It seems like its all one unit, there's nothing for me to unscrew to take the whole cartridge off. Any tips? (I think it was probably made in the 70's/80's)

I found it at my great grandma's house when we were claning and it was very dusty and a few of the old records are dusty also and need to be cleaned. I belive these records are Edison Diamond Discs. Are there any normal household cleaning products i can use to clean it? I don't want to buy a special cleaner.
I've heard they sell record players again. Where can I get one?

I know it is possible to get new tubes for record players and I could. I am just curious if anyone ever invented a substitute that works as a tube which could be plugged into the hole where the tube was which would have a much longer lifespan.
I've never bought one before and I don't know anything about them. I found one on ebay. Here's the link:

Is it worth buying?
not looking to get much for whole collection - all used - no original packaging - also have a Sears Silverton portable 78 rpm crank-up record player. this is portable (suitcase style) not in the wood box with the horn. works great!!!!!
Assume that you have the best phonograph player in the world, as well as the best CD player in the world. They are both perfectly balanced, calibrated and all that fancy stuff and they are hooked up to the best stereo in the world. What will sound better, the record player playing a brand new LP, or the same recording on CD?
I have a broken record player... where would i be able to take it to get it fixed?
I have a reasonably big room and already have a creamy brown colour carpet. I am into the old music and stuff so have a vinyl record player (Ferguson if Your wondering) and collect records whenever I see ones I like.

I have bought some vinyl records around thrift/music stores lately, but still I have no clue as to what record player to buy! Should I go used or new? I really have no background with records/players so I don't know much. I want to stay under 0 with a basic setup......
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

What is the general lifetime of a turntable's needle in terms of hours it can be played before it needs replacement? I received an "Ion TTUSB05" usb turntable for Christmas, and a friend of mine has a "Victoria Classic" model ITC 50 MP3.
Also, does anyone know what kind of needle cartridge the "victoria classic" requires for replacement? I can't seem to find it on the internet.
I have a couple of old record players and both are lacking needles.
i've maxxed out my enjoyment in collecting cd's, so i need a new hobby to keep me busy. I've heard you can find rare gems if you collect vinyl.....
If someone is doing cuts to a song (hip hop) what does it mean.
