I'm interested starting a vinyl record collection and need a player. I don't know much (other than the need for a phono preamp which my audio receiver already has), and I'm VERY into music ("wannabe audiophile" - expect great fidelity, just don't want to pay big dollars).
I'm thinking around the 0 range. This would simply be for listening pleasure (and maybe digitizing audio), but nothing DJ.

Why do we have 2 names for the same thing? Is there a difference in a 'record player' and turntable?
Looking for a red and white record player from 1970"s it was unique you could carry it while the record was playing the record slid inside and would Begin to play.Does anyone know this record player? Looking to buy.
I recently bought an external soundcard (M-Audio Audiophile USB) to record live mixes from my DJ mixer.
The manual to this soundcard is terrible and doesn't explain how I can connect it to my DJ mixer (Pioneer DJM800)
I wanna know what cables go where.

I just bought a used Pioneer PL-450 record player and need to know how to set it up. I don't have an amp, so I would need to know what to get to actually be able to hear my records (yeah, I know I sound stupid). Please help.. I just want to kick back and listen to my records.
At first it sounds like a vinyl record is playing. Then the cd player can't find any track, it may start at any random part of the song but only for a second. It seems like the motor is too tired to spin or the laser doesn't want to move anymore. The cd has a label on it that I printed off my printer. Did the label make the cd too heavy? Any ideas would be appreciated!
I am trying to locate the mechanism that provides music in those old fashioned music boxes for a project. Can anyone direct me to any source that has them for cheap? I want one that plays "Clair de Lune" by Debussy.
I have a large Zenith record player/radio that is at this at least 30+ years old and as far as I know still in working condition. Its a very large older model that is about 4ft long by 2ft. Only slight aging and marks on the wooden outside covering. I know nothing about records and record players but was thinking about selling this but I have no idea what to ask for it. Any suggestions?

I recently bought records, and now am looking to buy a record player, but i noticed they say things like, "plays 33,45,78 rpms" what do those numbers mean? and how do i know which record is which number? i looked all over the record to see if it displayed the number but didnt find anything. Are there record players that play every kind? if not, do i need different record players to play different records?
This Emerson has a string & pulley system for moving from station to station, The string is now broken, the pointer for stations call numbers is missing & there is only one pulley, should there not be another pulley? How do I restring the pulley so that the system operate properly:

I'm currently running my record player through to my stereo.. and that just isn't cutting it anymore, i need to get it way louder
I was assuming that i should just get some nice floor speakers... but do i have to run those through some sort of amplifier or can i connect basic speakers up right with the record player?

Do you still use your old record player? I'm a teenager, but love listening to my dads old records on our oldfashioned record player. My dad literaly has over 1,000 records and all of the good old rock stuff. : )
I have an old record player that has no outputs other than the plug. Is there anything I can hook up to connect it to my computer? Is there something that can splice the speaker cables and connect it to my microphone on my PC? Or is there some sort of special needle I can buy that has a microphone output? Somebody Help!!!

I HAVE 3 RECORD PLAYERS THAT GET USED DAILY AND WEEKLY! I ALSO HAVE A RECORD COLLECTION THAT I'M STILL BUILDING ON EVERY CHANCE I GET FROM FLEA MARKETS! AND I PLAY MY PRECIOUS GEMS ALL THE TIME AND MY KIDS LAUGH THEIR AS*ES OFF! and i punch them!
