1960’s Serenade doll?
Could anyone tell me more about the Serenade doll made in the 1960's. I believe she stands about 12" to 18". She has blonde hair that I think was in a ponytail. She came with a pink record player and a 45 record. She had a built in speaker and used a Dvolt battery. I also believe the doll was made by mattel. Her head was a soft vinyl and her body was hard plastic.

1962 Saranade, 21" tall, vinyl head with rooted hair, hard plastic jointed body, sleep eyes, closed mouth, has a phonograph and recorder with speaker in her tummy, marked: Uneeda Doll/1967 (I think that mark is a mistake and is probably 1961 or 1962)

I have a serenade doll from when I was a little girl. She is in a box in my closet, and she is as you described…more like 18″ high, with blond hair. She does have a speaker…it seems like she spoke thru records or something? Hummm, I’ll have to think about it and see what my brain downloads!
If there is something I can tell you, let me know…or if you would like a picture, I can do that, too.
I guess I should have read the comments better. I believe the 1967 date is correct. That would have made me 8 years old the Christmas I got her, and that is about right… I was in the second grade. I had the pink record player for years. My older cousins came over that Christmas and they had gotten walkie talkies. They somehow made it sound like she was talking to me. I was broken-hearted when I found out it was a trick. I never liked her after that…but, for some reason I never got rid of her.
